I can totally understand shinyee901012. I’ve hired several Myanmar helpers in the past and there are some who gave me endless problems, attitudes etc. Given the current Covid situation, Myanmar has closed their borders and no international flights for now. In fact they just extended the flight suspension from 30 Oct to 30 Nov. The other way to a flight back is to queue for the Covid relief flight arranged by their government. As of few weeks ago there are about 3000 people on the waitlist so it is going to be a matter of months. Therefore buying an air ticket to send them back is not an option now. Either place them on waitlist for relief flight or send back to agency.

RE: All About ADHD : Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Hi Zac’s mum,
You can try Dr Penny Tok. She has a private psychology practice and is able to diagnose for ADHD. I’ve seen her before as my older boy has autism. She is approachable, frank and professional. You can check up on her website, http://www.drpennytok.com . Hope this helps.
It is hard to determine whether a kid has ADHD as several criterias need to be fulfilled so best is to seek a professional’s advice. Because of my older boy’s condition, I thought I’ve seen it all since I’m in and out of therapy centers, sped schools since he was very young. So when my younger girl’s kindy classmate’s mum told me her girl has ADHD, I couldn’t believe it at first. She looked so normal like any other kids. The mum said you need to observe closely to see the signs. I did and I notice that the girl does seem to go on n on about a topic and can’t seem to control her emotions very well at times.. her focus is an issue as well resulting in inconsistent results. So for her case, she was diagnosed with mild adhd and mum knows her issues now and able to give her better support. -
RE: Tonsils surgery
I’m glad you seek a second opinion. Otherwise your kid would have to go for the op which is unnecessary in this case.

RE: Tonsils surgery
I think tonsils you can see it by looking deep into the mouth? But adenoids whether swollen or not you need to do a scope. It can be very uncomfortable for the child but if the specialist is well trained with kids I think it will be helpful. To be sure I think still better to seek a second opinion and get scope done.

RE: Tonsils surgery
Hi Annettec,
My girl did her tonsils and adenoids removal last year. She was down with a serious of viral infections and ended up with her having breathing difficulties and unable to sleep. Our gp insisted she would be ok and nasal spray would be sufficient. After few weeks things didn’t improve and we got the gp to refer an ent specialist. She did the scope for my girl and found enlarged tonsils and adenoids. She recommended to remove them. We were torn between going for second opinion first or going for it. Seeing the discomfort she was in, we went for it. So far so good. Some people say the adenoids and tonsils are the body’s first line of defense so unless it’s absolutely necessary, otherwise try not to remove. After the op I heard of Dr Lynne Lim who is ent specialist for kids… if I had known earlier I might have gone for her due to her experience with kids. It’s good to seek a second opinion if not urgent case. -
RE: 2022 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (born in 2010)
Thanks Zac’s mum for working out the numbers. My girl will be the first batch under the new AL system. I tried the same for my girl using her SA1 scores. Her T score works out to be around 248, very similar to yours. Her AL is 9… her highest is chinese at 92… the rest most are mid 80s range. Yes now I finally see the picture… have to be consistent for all 4 subjects. When the AL banding was first released, her chinese tutor was saying the same thing about having to be very consistent to do well but I didn’t get what she was saying. Now I finally understand.

RE: how to help my girl improve on science
Science is indeed a tough one. My girl managed to maintain her marks for other 3 subjects (compared to p3 SA2). However Science marks are sliding. Despite good amount of time spent on this subject, somehow it’s not working. Contemplating to get a private tutor for her too.

RE: Historical COP for Sec 1 Posting Exercise
phtthp,
In response to your earlier reply, yes I totally agree. Where got less stressful. Its merely shifting the stress from right pocket to left pocket.
And I agree with what laughing cat said about carelessness in maths and answering techniques in science OE questions are the killers. These are my two biggest headaches. My blood pressure shoots up everytime I see plus becomes minus, plus becomes multiply etc… Science even worse, not answering the whys but instead more like answering what do you observe questions… siaz.
