Looking for recommendations on p2 comprehension assessment book especially the open ended. I have tried the mastering comprehension book but it is not so effective, looking for alternative that can provide step by step guidance especially on challenging questions. Any tips how to teach are welcomed. Decided to pull her out from enrichment centre as she could not apply technique learnt despite attending enrichment centre for more than 1 years and the enrichment teacher never figure out when I asked her anything to focus on until I found out her weakness through her schoolwork and mini test.

Looks like Everyone experience is different, my kid’s teacher marked her work promptly and pretty responsive. However we did not sign up holiday program as I do not like online learning and doubt on the effectiveness for younger kid. Sometimes my kid are not sure what is required by her side and I struggle to look through the whole video due to time constraint. Currently using assessment book for reinforcement and see how it goes. Crisis helps us to differentiate who is a good, responsible one vs those who care more about money.

only towards the last 2 months, from August all the way right up to PSLE, Mdm Chen had helped my child improved tremendously, in Higher Chinese (\"gao hua\").

was also amongst one of the Top National GCE O level past cohort batch, back then in 2011.

Jiang focus on essay writing towards second half of p2. Some form of writing exercise started towards end of first half P2. The essay is highly guided and I Ask my kid to write down from her memory after listening to teacher than copying word by word. I presume this method has better retention. I remember Jiang philosophy is to focus on reading and word recognition before writing therefore they are probably lag Wang on essay writing timeline. Anyway singaporean kids rarely read wide variety of Chinese story books nowadays therefore the only way to improve essay is hard memorisation as there is insufficient natural input through reading. I guess that works since some kids are still able to do well in composition through hard work.

Smps are more relaxed and parents are pretty chill, only a small handful are kancheong. Parents profile are mixed bag, slightly skew towards private condo than hdb due to location. Most parents choose SMPS because they prefer a more ‘balanced’ school, it is not as competitive as SAP or elite school along Bukit Timah. The school does not glorify on academic achievement or competition. Academic standard wise I think it is slightly above average - English standard should be pretty high and most girls read pretty well for their age but Chinese standard is lower. Maths standard are not high through observation on Maths Olympiad results and schoolwork. The school focuses a lot on character development and my girl enjoys going to school.

Thats good to know, seems like very holistic! Can you share why you decided this is a right choice of school for your girl?

Simple reason: 1) No ballot required and pretty close to home 2) wide range of Cca activities to choose. Ideally I prefer slightly stronger academic focus school, but SMPS is good enough with Strong character development. I do not want to stress myself out and not keen to send her to expensive TLL just to keep up in a competitive environment.

As one parent here has pointed out, atropine has rebound effect means if you stop half way there is a high chance the degree will catch up to the level what is supposed to be without atropine. We taper down the atropine dosage slowly over 1 month period based on optometrist recommendation when transitioning towards misight and degree was maintained for 3 months during misight treatment without atropine.

Alternative is to consider special lenses on spectacles that mimic misight and ortho k correction target zone, though it is less effective as the treatment zone is not directly done on eye level.It works for some kids but I heard % is not high. Parents should ask the statistics on local success case from the optometrist. the lenses cost sgd300-400 and need to upgrade if power still increase. Since my girl degree is already high at her age, I decide to move on to a proven method which is ortho-k.

Misight cost is about sgd1500 for full year, pricing varies across optical shop so parents need to negotiate and compare. No extra solution requires.

Ortho k treatment cost around sgd2k, usually last 2 years. If the lenses fit over 2 year and well taken care of, the lifespan can be extended. However solution is required for cleaning and daily insertion/removal, the maintenance cost could be around sgd50-80 monthly depending your orthokeralogist recommendation. In short I think ortho-k could be more expensive than misight in Long run. Extra care required for ortho-k as replacement is expensive.

SLM treatment depends on the length of treatment, about $2-3k. Honestly I would just save this money for ortho-k or misight as my girl already has myopia more than 1 year.

One issue with ortho-k or misight is some kids are phobia with inserting/removing lenses from the eyes.
