Qn: Can Zoe come to a conclusion for the above experiment that she has set up? Explain your answer.
Ans: No, two variables in her experiment have been changed so she cannot come to a conclusion as the test is not fair.

Can anyone help - which are the 2 variables? Thank you.

      Maths Olympiad Tutor:
      smartmummy:

Some old folks are sharing 2 bunches of grapes. If each of them eats 12 grapes, there will be 7 grapes short. If each of them eats 11 grapes, there will be 3 grapes extra. If one bunch of grapes has 19 fewer grapes, find the number of grapes in the larger bunch.TIA

If each person eats 12 grapes, they will be short of 7 grapes.
If each person eats 11 grapes, they have 3 extra.

      This means there are 7 + 3 = 10 old folks altogether.

      Total number of grapes = 11 x 10 + 3 = 113

1 bunch has 19 fewer grapes than the other bunch.

      113 - 19 = 94

      94 / 2 = 47

      47 + 19 = 66

The larger bunch has 66 grapes.

      Enjoy!

      Maths Olympiad Tutor, :thankyou:

    • RE: Q&A - P5 Math

Pls help on the following question:

The total value of the notes in Cindy’s handbag is between $60 to $150. If she buys the maximum number of files she can afford at $7 each, she will have $1 left. If she buys the maximum of pens she can afford at $9 each, she will have $3 left. What is the total value I’d all the notes in Cindy’s handbag?

      TIA
