Just a few thoughts...it’s always easy to comment that, “...on hindsight, certain measures should happen earlier etc.” Instead of being a naysayer, there are pockets of opportunities for us to show practical kindness to those around us.
If we happened to get much more essentials last weekend than what we would need, we could share with those whom we know who haven’t had the chance or quick enough to make any purchase, and their supplies could be running low. Even if it’s a hand wave to the health staff in uniform when we see them in public places could be a morale booster to them.
It’s how we respond constructively or otherwise in times like this that define who we really are. Daily statistics are easily accessible with social media. Perhaps we could use this forum to share on how Singaporeans have contributed and helped others sensibly during this time? 😉
I’m voicing my view because we need to channel our energy positively to brace this crisis together. To each his own. 😃

RE: Catholic High School
The sense of brotherhood is strong in Cat High, and the positive influence to spur one another to study well is there. Nearing to exams, my DS would arrange for study groups with his classmates. The boys generally have a good sense of belonging, to the extent that even though my DS who is in S2 has no school today, he wore his S1 orientation t-shirt to our lunch date today!
He wore it with such ease and pride, more so than with his Star Wars t-shirts. -
RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
I recalled sometime this year when the PSLE result date was announced, it did send shivers down my spine. If I was feeling so, what more my DS. During the week leading to The Day, we brought my DS out to have some activities together and did not emphasis that the results were coming. When he brought up the topic on the result intermittently, we just told him he would be fine and we’ll journey with him together. Actually, that’s what he needed, assurance. All the best to all the 2018 PSLE parents and kids who had come a long way.

RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
In page 5 of the above link, the last sentence of Paper 1 (Writing) states that ‘Candidates may also come up with their own interpretation of the topic’. This is the official website which is an additional assurance to what the school teacher had said. So ask your DS not to worry at all, 加油!

RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
Not to worry, whitecarla. Last year, the topic was ‘ A Gift’. The picture showed a young man but my son wrote him as an old man. Both of us were so worried till the extent that I called his school teacher to clarify. It’s actually ok.
If you look at the SEAB.gov.sg for English PSLE Continuous Writing, so long your son kept within the topic, he should be fine.
All the best! -

As there are many components in English, you may want to analyze which areas need improvement. Drawing from my experience with my DS who took PSLE last week, from now till PSLE is critical to consolidate knowledge and to clarify doubts.i was looking for some advice ...i am in the dilemma that should i continue with current tutor which started 3 months ago or change to other group lesson.
my son this year PSLE, and he was with mind stretcher but stopped after complaining boring and does not help, we then switched to private tutor from Feb onwards and but he end up english mark drop during the recent SA1-not sure if we put too much expectation on the tutor.... does tutor come with their own study and teaching material? one thing i find is private tutor seems lack of resources compare to mind strecher or learning lab these kind of tution centre.
so should i change him back to tuition centre?
anyone can share with me some experience and opinion? thanks a lot -

Actually, if you really want to beat the crowd, depending on what time the school bookstore closes, you can get the books today. I’Ce already got the booklist and books from the bookstore today. For uniforms, you could find out the supplier and go to the source today as well. I got them from BIBI and BABA today.
Parents HAVE to go - buy books/uniform and fill in those admin forms.ongstarling:
Hi
Normally are parents allowed to go in with student for reporting tomorrow? Still need to purchase uniform and textbooks right?
