To me, NY is obviously giving a big hint else, why would P bother to say put it as 1st choice and have this tea session? It is a more or less CO in place if you go for 1st choice .

I don't understand this auto-conversion by NYGH, unless as sleepy mentioned, there's a CO buffer. It seems like an odd approach though. Tell the students that they don't value them enough to offer them a CO, but if the students want the school bad enough, they can demonstrate their eagerness by putting their WL as first choice. Not sure how I would view this if I were a student.

I believe all schools hv set-up some buffer for appeal..they hv the discretionary power to use this buffer to enable WL or appeal to gain school admission.

These are the schools that hv fully given out the percentage of COs (50% of total intake), so the next best thing that they can offer to those WLs .. If u are sincere, place them in first choice, and you will be granted a place.. Using the buffer that they hv reserved.

We were in the tea session.

To us, by placing NYGH as 1st choice and high probability to get CO, what does this imply? Isnt this as good as offering this dangling carrot for a CO?

Teacher mentioned every year there are around 5 kids without a CO from first choice school.


Some declined CO from second choice and attempted their first choice again using psle result but could possibly end up with nothing :scared: During PTM teachers related one such case last year. Teachers said his parents were devastated.

Some accepted second choice but :frustrated: when subsequently their psle qualified for first choice.

No update of lowest / highest score but fr the girls' information exchange in her own class:
Eng 34.5 highest 21 lowest
HCL 54 highest. 35 lowest

GG, that is very good result,esp for HCL ! Highest in DS class was only 45 ! Tr even commented that those who scored above 40 are considered very good. oh no, either DS's school std is really :slapshead: or yr DD's school is :salute:

GIftedGem, My DD is in the same sch but likely diff class fr yr DD.
For HCL, her tr only said all passed but none knew the highest / lowest score.
