      Hi

This chat is kinda of quiet. My daughter has got CO for SOTA visual art too. And will like to find out more about the school too. Positive and negative points. 🙂

Most probably the reason is that SOTA accept students via their art talent instead of academic result. The other local IB school admission are based on academic results and most probably the top X %.

      Hi olimshs,
Do you know the reason for your friends’ child leaving to study overseas?

My choice will not be the same as your girl, because we are not your daughter. Should ask your own daughter, what path and interest she wants & preference. As a mom, you know your own daughter best

Assuming that your girl's WL get converted,

      ask your daughter whether
she prefer to study A-level (RI) 6 years later, or prefer SOTA-IB, and what are her plans after graduate from SOTA ?

Also ask her what are her plans, after graduate from RI, simultaneously.

(SOTA vs. A-level) curriculum are so distinctly differently far apart. Settle this curriculum thing, first. Ask her what she want

You are not going to study for her. Neither can you live your life for her.

One guiding point is, in this era of pandemic, going forward into the future, what kind of jobs will still exist 10 years from now ?

If she graduate from SOTA (Visual Arts), what's the next path to progress forward to ?

      Hi Phtthp
      Thank you for your reply
We can’t decide till date hence the post. Before this outcome, we were all for SOTA as we like IB (assessments throughout the 6 years and seems more holistic)

Both schools have art program but of course SOTA being a art school should be more in depth.

She wants to do art in future. This is her current passion which I’m not sure will last till when and whether this career is best for her.

      Hi

My DD has CO for SOTA visual art and WL for RGS visual art.

      We are thinking
RGS IP/ all girls school/academic above average / special art program
      vs
      SOTA IB/ mixed school/academic wider band/art school

We are thinking whether to put RGS first choice noting that we may not get RGS too.

Her overall AL is 5 for prelim and passionate about doing art in secondary school and beyond.

What will be your choice ?

      Hi

May I know whether is a requirement to have double science to apply for medicine? Or single science and maths will do?

      Hi

May I know whether the IB program offered at SOTA limits the chances of going to local university example medicine/ psychology due to subject combination?

I do understand that the students who chose to go SOTA usually have decided to explore in the field of arts.

Also, is local University giving the same level of recognition to IB and A Level since IB is relatively new compared to A level here.

Hope to hear from SOTA graduates or parents of graduates.

      Thank you in advance.

Thank you Szepinge for your reply.

Can I say for those in IP track after year 1/2/3, they can still opt to take o level?

Is there a difference in curriculum for year 1-4 doing IP or 0 level?
