Hi my child does attend 3-hour kindergarten but it closed so frequently crazy until considered not attending at all. Their school 95% comprised of foreign ixxxxxs so kept contracting covid-19 almost daily and the school kept closing for disinfection. We also didn’t have much or any online schooling as their teachers were infected so manpower was down. Just this entire April, she was kept at home for 1 month and learnt nothing. So far since she started this school, I think she only attended 5 to 10 lessons of 3-hours, the rest of the days and months often closed due to covid-19 infections in school. That’s why she didn’t learn anything, especially mandarin and maths.
Mm does your little one go to kindy? Surely they teach some Math there? For a little 5 year old the Math bar is pretty simple. No need to panic. Just counting from 1 to 10. Maybe 1 to 20 at 6 years old. That's what my paed tells me. You should enjoy the low academic stress at 5 years old. -
RE: MPM Maths - Discussion
Hi I cannot seem to find any info/reviews regarding this particular centre at Safra Punggol in the entire internet.
The teacher is Priscilla UNG, not the famous Priscilla Tan handling another few centres. She seemed skeptically-looking when I saw her eyes scrutinising all over my body a few times during my conversation with her.
Anyway my only intention is to send my child for maths enrichment but unsure if Jelic is considered to be one as I read about it to be a left & right brain training program on their website instead.
My 5.5 yo child has 0 knowledge in maths and cannot even do proper counting after 20. She’s already in K1 but was assessed by Priscilla UNG to be able to join Jelic only instead of MPM directly. Well I don’t mind as long as my child gains interest and learn some things by end of the day.
Q1) But bottom line is if Jelic beneficial (as a stepping foundation towards maths) and does it consider to be a maths enrichment or brain training program??
Q2) And also worried will she be ready and able to get promoted to MPM before she enters P1?
Q3) Pls can anyone share with me how is the teacher and the Jelic curriculums like?
Thank you for provide some useful information regarding this Punggol centre asap as I need to make payment within 2 days’ time. -

Hi sis, can you share with me is Jelic considered a foundation or stepping stones for learning maths or it’s simply just a brain training program? My main purpose is to have my child learn maths as she has 0 zero knowledge in maths and already 5.5yo now. We went for the assessment but was told my child is suitable for Jelic and not MPM instead. To be honest, I am kinda worried if she will be ready before she enters P1. Pls share some great experiences if you can as I am signing up asap.
Hi Elmo,
My son started Jelic when we was 5yo. He went on to MPM one year later. Initially i was like you hesitant to let him join Jelic but due to the teacher persistance, I agreed. I glad i follow that and did not regret at all. Here's the reason why....
1. Jelic is similar to mpm. It teaches math concept, logical reasoning, references etc
2. Difference...Jelic uses total manipulatives and no writing required, thus its more fun
3. The concept they learn in Jelic is definitely useful and helpful when they into MPM later
4. After Jelic and they ready for MPM, they will be given pre-assessment to determine their starting pt in MPM. My son surprised me as he not required to start frm d 1st book. He even has no problem in completing his mpm work either in centre or at home.
5. My son is now in P1. I never ever give him assessment book or prepare him for his mid year exam. On weekends he will only do his MPM homework
6.He maybe careless with his counting but he understands the concepts very well thus has no difficulty in doing problem sum.
I understand how eager we want our kids to advance. But learning it thru the fun way like Jelic is the best way. Moreover MPM has lots of writing which they will do it for years. We shoulnt bore them, should we?
I'm now a proud and relaxed mom. My son enjoys Math so much and scored 96 for his math mid year with very little guidance from us.
Just my humble opinion.

Hi Shenice, did you eventually send your child to Jelic or MPM? I want to know if Jelic is considered a maths enrichment or simply a brain training program? And also to ask if one must complete all levels of Jelic (up to level 7) before being able to go for MPM? Thanks to reply asap as I am signing up anytime!
Hi,
My son is 2 years old. Is it too early for him to start in Jelic next year? What is the earliest age to start? What is the difference between Jelic and MPM? Is Jelic for younger kids and MPM for older kids? Any reviews at MPM/Jelic at parkway parade. TIA. -

Did you send your child for this Jelic program? Is it good? Btw do you know if it’s a foundation stepping stones for maths or just a brain training program?
Any reviews for Jelic program at Bukit Panjang outlet? -
RE: Comparing Math Enrichment Programmes
Hi I am now keen to sign up for Jelic because after the free assessment by the teacher, I was told that my child can’t join MPM program now and more suitable to attend Jelic first. Then I found info about Jelic seems to be more on the left and right brain training so unsure this program has anything to do with learning of maths.
And bottom line is, I really don’t know if this Jelic program is for learning basic foundation of maths or what? My plan is to sign up my K1 child for a math enrichment before she enters P1 as she has 0 knowledge in maths. I don’t want to be signed up for an enrichment class which doesn’t cater to what I need for my child.
I have a few centres for comparison in mind:
• eiMaths
• Mighty Maths
• Jelic & MPM Maths
Which centre is really better for a child with no maths background? So need to consult parents here for better advice before making the next move. Thank you! -

RE: Punggol Green Primary
May I ask why is this PGPS so popular? I just live within 500m away from this school and it will take me about 10 mins walk only. I want to enrol my child to this school when my child enters P1 but I understand it’s a heavily balloted school due to its popularity & I also don’t know why it is so popular? Can any parents share the reasons? Thanks!

RE: Lingoace gives Cash commissions to groupbuy hosts (also current Lingoace customers) so they make new parents sign up
Hi I am informed that those parents (also current Lingoace customers) who hosted Groupbuy in WhatsApp or Facebook for Lingoace’s new sign-ups and renewals get to earn real cash as their commissions.
Personally I think it’s very unfair to those who sign up and doesn’t get cash in their own favour. Now I finally understand why these same groupbuy parents kept opening up new chats and asked more parents to sign up or for renewal deals! Does anyone actually know this? Thanks to reply. -

How to join this voting contest?
We are launching the KiasuParents Annual Awards for Service Providers. Essentially we will put up lists of providers for:
1. English enrichment programs
2. Chinese enrichment programs
3. Math enrichment programs
4. Science enrichment programs
Between now and 31 December 2021, please post the name of the enrichment center and the category that you would like to be included. Eg. Kumon - Math.
This is an opportunity for you to evaluate the enrichment program you are interested in. So please post your request!
We will collate your requests and put up the 4 polls for people to vote over the year, from 1 January 2022. Voting will be closed at the end of November 31st 2022. Winners will receive plaques from KiasuParent.com.
In addition, towards the end of 2022, we will open up a contest for people to post their comments about the programs that they really liked. We will choose the top 3 entries that we really liked, which will then get a top prize starting at $1000. The winning entries do not need to be related to the top winners of the 4 categories.
We hope this can encourage service providers to do their best for their customers. -
