RE: Helpful supplementary books for Sec 1
My teachers used to recommend good assessment books to us, perhaps the school teachers could help.
But personally I did not rely on assessment books at all in secondary school, and I believe consistent schoolwork is more important
The teachers give good notes and resources, and they have been sufficient for me.
Moreover, assessment books are time-consuming for students who are already drowning in their schoolwork and other commitments
PSLE requires practice, but I remember how assessment books confused me more

RE: Is PSLE so important?
Hi Anxiousmum
If i'm not mistaken, the number of As and A*s are not entirely or accurately reflective of the T-score. So there isn't any exact number your child has to achieve to achieve a T-score of 245.
I would say the most important thing is to allow your child to achieve the best he/she can. I would say very frankly that a lot is dependent on luck so do your best and keep your fingers crossed
That's how I survived

RE: Secondary School Third Languages
I've been taking Malay Special Programme for 4 years now. No doubt it's a whole lot more stress and commitment to juggle with all the other school activities.
I've heard of friends taking third lang because their parents want them to. But I don't actually think that can sustain them through the whole time with so many other things demanding their attention.
So I would say interest is the most important. To be frank, third lang does not have a very significant practical value. I would say the majority of students in third lang in Sec 1 drop out on the way, so no use coercing the child to become one of them
