Hi All,

For yr2020 P1 registration starting in July, this year registration is different due to COVID19.

Read on the MOE website

If you have secured a P1 place for your child in a previous registration phase, you will need to withdraw your place from the school before registering in another school. Unless you have withdrawn your place, MOE will not process any further online applications made for your child and your child will remain in the school that your child had earlier secured a place at. You are to ensure that the child has been successfully withdrawn before submitting another online application.

Any idea how to withdraw?

Thanks

Thanks Davischew…
Which school you think is better other than Nan Chiau?
Due current Covid'19 pandemic, they will not have open house and I don't even have chance to visit the school to understand more. Really in dilemma.
Can try GoogleMaps to see which school is more convenient to your place, and check the schools' websites to understand the programmes they offer. Just some suggestions.

• RE: What age do you let your kids go to child care?

My and my wife and traditional, and do not want to send our kinds to child care. We don't know how the child care providers will handle our child, whether she will be neglected or not.

She's a friendly, happy and playful child but with 1 carer looking after 8-10 children. It's quite hard to imagine whether our daughter will be minded properly.

We've always had the idea that our mothers will look after our kids (kids grandparents), but with them getting old, wanting their own freedom to do classes, gardening etc. Its not fair to put kids onto them during retirement.

At what age do you feel comfortable to lave children with carers?
If there is a choice, when they are able to talk and tell us about their day in school, and able to understand basic instructions.

Just curious, for those who registered their kids in alumni phase 2A and then decided to withdraw later to try another school at 2C, how are these seats given back to the school? Say 3 withdrew... then how to divide them between 2B and 2C of the former school?
As 2B is over by then, should all go to 2C.

Nowadays the preschool kids watch so many hours of American cartoons that they all have an American accent!

But seriously, kid’s English can be improved by reading more books (either you read out loud, or get an audio book that will read out loud while the child flips the physical book & matches the words).

Peers in a mission school are generally more likely to be from English-speaking homes, speaking with grammatically correct sentence structure as opposed to Singlish. But this is just in general. What if her best friend happens to be a Singlish speaker? Don’t count on as-yet-unknown peers to educate your child...still have to put in the work, language-wise.
Some food for thought. Thank you for your reply!

ATS exam papers are one of the toughest in SG.

And how is your kid’s command of Mandarin? Cos ATS is a SAP school. Have to do Higher Chinese from P1.
Thanks zac's mum. Mandarin is so-so, but kid's English is also not fantastic 😓 Will a mission school be better for the spoken English environment, or are they the same nowadays?

My sense is that you may not even get a chance to ballot at 2B as you are > 2km for CHIJ TPY. bear that in mind.
You should also gauge your child ability ... getting into ATS is another matter.
Is it very stressful studying in ATS? Are the students generally well-spoken?
