      Jennifer:

      Off topic:

Do you know the difference between \"a fair experiment\" vs \"a reliable experiment\"? This is reference to one of the qns in P5 SA2 last year.
      Hi Jennifer

I got this from this website, http://explorable.com/definition-of-reliability.html. Hope it helps.

The Definition of Reliability Vs. Validity

Reliability and validity are often confused, but the terms actually describe two completely different concepts, although they are often closely inter-related. This distinct difference is best summed up with an example:

A researcher devises a new test that measures IQ more quickly than the standard IQ test:

If the new test delivers scores for a candidate of 87, 65, 143 and 102, then the test is not reliable or valid, and it is fatally flawed.

If the test consistently delivers a score of 100 when checked, but the candidates real IQ is 120, then the test is reliable, but not valid.

If the researcher's test delivers a consistent score of 118, then that is pretty close, and the test can be considered both valid and reliable.

Reliability is an essential component of validity but, on its own, is not a sufficient measure of validity. A test can be reliable but not valid, whereas a test cannot be valid yet unreliable.

Reliability, in simple terms, describes the repeatability and consistency of a test. Validity defines the strength of the final results and whether they can be regarded as accurately describing the real world.

      Scary:
      janet_lee88:

Kids compare the latest hp...for eg iphone 3GS, 4, 4S. Soon it will be iphone 5.
My son uses the basic model...no camera...like NS men.

My DS already telling me someone brought hp to school. Will take out during recess to play games secretly.

Told him he doesn't need hp till sec school since we are living so near to school. Can always use office or public phone. Also a burden to have one in pocket.

      Scary,

I had the same thought as you with regards to handphone. But this yr, after being at the mercy of the mood swings of the security guard in sch, I decided to get one for my dd. Its more for me to locate her when she has to stay back in sch and still not out at the stipulated time.

Incidentally, the one time when I was allowed to go to the general office to enquire on her whereabouts, the admin staff asked me how come she don't carry handphone? And there I thought aren't handphone ban in schs?

      Thanks Jennifer.

So after 20 odd years, the traffic condition to school has yet to improve. Maybe planning for a move to the west.

Is PeiHwa a fast pace environment?
      Also alot of well-to-do family?
Hi, it depends on the class. My girl in P3 this year, one day came back and asked us why we don't stay in condo. Her class only 2 persons staying in HDB. So you can see that kids are comparing such things at a young age.

Hi, can I check with you on an english question? I think I know the answer but I don’t know how to explain to my DD.

      The question is:

"Christine saw the puppy _____ her mother’s shoes. " The MCQ choices are
      1. chew
      2. chews
      3. chewed
      4. was chewing

The answer should be "chew", correct? Intuitively "chew" seems like the correct choice, but if "saw" is in past tense, why is "chew" in present tense?

If the sentence is changed to "Christine saw the puppy and ___ her mother’s shoes", then we use past tense for the blank. For example "hid" is the correct answer here.

So why is the past tense used for Christine’s action but not the puppy’s actions?
