Side track.. last yr after registration DH came back to tell me PH quite 'scary'.. He saw several Mercedes cars parked outside the school, likely driven by other wealthy parents going for registration.

Whoa, so Scary owns several Benzzz ... no wonder she so generous to foot the BBQ.

Why make a comparison saying people stay in condo make up of hands off parents while parents from HDB are always there for the kids?
Children are all innocent and very simple being. Even when they are thinking why some stay in condo some in HdB they see hdb and condo as different items. And not from the point why my parents can't afford, the materialistics comparison between private and HDB.....etc. instead of telling them 'ah boy, people staying in condo are richer but may not be happy as compared to HDB people, .'. We tell them exactly the differences of both structures. If our kids see a Merc passed by, do we instantly say ' nothing great, these drivers are all in debt with car loans,we are happer in mrt no debt and liability' ?!?

I'm afraid you've misread my post. I used a condo-HDB analogy due to ruaqt2's earlier post on her dd's class comparing types of housing. I was saying that for small kids, what matters more is the time their parents spend wih them, not how affluent they are.

If you can pt me to the exact sentence(s) I caused you to think that i implied all condo-owners are hands-off parents, I'll be happy to amend it.

Hi, it depends on the class. My girl in P3 this year, one day came back and asked us why we don't stay in condo. Her class only 2 persons staying in HDB. So you can see that kids are comparing such things at a young age.

Kids compare the latest hp...for eg iphone 3GS, 4, 4S. Soon it will be iphone 5.
My son uses the basic model...no camera...like NS men.[/quote]My DS already telling me someone brought hp to school. Will take out during recess to play games secretly.

Told him he doesn't need hp till sec school since we are living so near to school. Can always use office or public phone. Also a burden to have one in pocket.

I had the same thought as you with regards to handphone. But this yr, after being at the mercy of the mood swings of the security guard in sch, I decided to get one for my dd. Its more for me to locate her when she has to stay back in sch and still not out at the stipulated time.

Incidentally, the one time when I was allowed to go to the general office to enquire on her whereabouts, the admin staff asked me how come she don't carry handphone? And there I thought aren't handphone ban in schs?

My son has been using a mobile since P4…it started when he doesn’t appear at back gate at the time he should be. Frustrated, I gave him a pre paid card but realized it was ex. So got him a post paid line after that with bundled in SMS. His mobile is on silent vibration.

Although the school is nearby, it’s hard to reach him and unfortunately the security guards at PH have PMS.
