RE: Comparing Enrichment Programme versus Private Tutor
I do not have 1 to 1 tuition yet for my DD1.
I think for Group Tuition as long as it is small group like 4-6 students, it should be effective. The students will be competitive and want to out-do each other in class.
A Group tutor once told me if the students are at a higher standard in the class, then the weaker students will have to catch up with the rest of the students. But if it is 1-1 tuition, usually the teacher will teach at the student's pace/standard (maybe lower standard).
But I will consider Chinese 1 to 1 tuition for DD1 next yr because she is really weak in her compo! I think the teacher might as well write the compo for her...LOL all RED on her marked paper....

Today’s Oral was difficult. I told her "as long as you try your best…"
Guess she has to work harder on other papers now. -
RE: All About Getting Help for Students Weak in English
My 6 yrs old girl started to read before she was 5 yrs old. She attends Mrs Angie's home-based Phonics/English class (N2-K2) at Sengkang under franchise I Creative Learner. http://www.icreativelearner.com.sg/ They have enrichment schools in Bedok and Clementi now. But previously it is home-based only.
Personally I think I have to credit this teacher 100% for teaching her well. This class usually starts in April when the kid is 4. I was on wait list when she was 2 yrs old.
She has just joined a new K2 school and the form teacher asked her to be 1 of the MC for her graduation concert. I was very surprised because she is so new in the class.
The teacher told me \" because she is the only one who can read the whole passage LOUD and CLEAR \". Heehee -
RE: Hello Everyone! I am new here!
:yikes: is it bad that she doesnt know KS? I seldom have a chance to use such words to her....but soon she will truly understand what KS means becos I plan to be a KS mummy to prepare her for Pri5.
Pri4 is too late now...just 2 more weeks to go.
We can only do so much..... -
RE: Hello Everyone! I am new here!
thank you thank you thank you!
hahaha my 10 yrs old saw me on this forum and asked me the meaning of kiasu…besides trying my best to tell her what KS means "POSITIVELY"…I told her this is the place I can find information on classes, fun activities, test papers and most importantly HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH HER etc I think she likes it. -
RE: Travel: Scotland
We went Scotland/England for F&E 16 days in Summer June 2009 with our 2 girls age 7 and 3 yrs old then.
There were so many highlights for the trip! Just to name a few…
We loved Drummond Safari! A zoo where we drove in our own car and pack a picnic basket and bring your mat. We had lions and lioness strolled by our car. Our kids went "we are going to die!" !!! Facepainting, kiddy rides, HUGE playground, big swing, Giant Astraglide slides, pet farm, flying fox, seal lion show etc.
We took our girls to Fort William where we took the famous magical steam train in Harry Potter, the Chamber of Secrets, and Alnwick Castle (the flying lesson on broomsticks & crash landing of the flying car). We stayed in B&Bs and had really delicious fish&chips. We also went Ben Nevis, Loch Ness, Inverness etc.
We drove through small farm roads instead of expressway. We saw sheep, hares and yaks and even carriages pull by horses.
If you are into love romance story books then you will be familiar with Northumblerland, England. It is such a romantic little English town. We took boat trip to Farne Islands to view sea birds, visited Grey Seal colonies and stopped at Inner Farne Island. It was such a thrill for our girls to visit the nesting seabirds.
There is a place called Holy Island which is connected by a bridge to the main island. Haha I will not spoil the fun here. Just make sure to check the water tide before you cross that bridge.
We did not plan the route 100%. We did not book the hotels/B&B. It was really F&E. Besides we bought the tix on a Wed and flew out the following week on a Thurs. No chance to plan much at all! -
