RE: Which is your preferred Kids Savings Account?
dotti:
Totally agree... I did sent them my feedback.... Hopefully they take up the case and look at it again... Cause within a week span, I already received several same feedback from my friends on this and that the lack of passbook is the reason why they went with OCBC instead of POSB....I prefer to the physical bank book too. As the online account opening was only for eposb and I wanted the actual bank book. I made my way to a branch but was told that the bank has stopped issuing them.
What a shame. I think it is a good idea for kids to see their deposits being recorded down in a bank book and their money \"growing\". I have one for my elder kid and am kicking myself for not opening one for the younger one before they stopped the practise.
Some things are still better done the old fashioned way.
It's a waste because we all grew up with POSB... Unknowingly, POSB is going to lose one whole young generation to other banks... -
RE: Which is your preferred Kids Savings Account?
ePOSBkids? Went to apply for a POSBkids account for my boy but found out they stopped issuing passbooks to go green and now everything is "e"…
Prefer a physical passbook because I think kids like something tangible to hold and see… easier for them to keep track of their own savings… and also instill ownership and responsibility… as compared to ePOSBkids where their account is tagged to their parents and can only be accessed through the parent’s online password & token…
I think POSB missed this point when they decide to introduce ePOSBkids as a replacement… Have dropped them a feedback on this…
What is your take on this "e" thingy? -

As per booklist:Today my kid come back and told me why I didn't put notebook with lines in his bag
teacher shouted at him for not giving her right notebook
I told him its not mention in time table they only ask for square notebook and jotter book( school bookshop only issued big square jotter books)
This is for Mother Tounge
I am sooooo confused, he is my first kid in Primary, and there is no one whm we can ask except this forum
Square Jotterbooks & Exercise books is for Mandarin Mother Tongue...
Line Jotterbooks & Exercise books are for Malay & Tamil Tongue....
Pardon me for asking... Which Mother Tongue is your child taking? -

Since it is by invitation, I presume the Maths teacher will identify the potential kids & make the recommendation?Ran1977:
H, Is P1 NeuroMath classes by invitation only or anyone can attend?
As per what I know based on my kid these few years in naps, it's by invitation only.
BTW, since parents weren't allowed into school as of today, I asked my DS how he manage his recess time... He told me he bought food on his own and there were no P4 buddy to help them...
I double check the orientation booklet and it states there there will be a P4 student attached to help ur kid only next Mon (07 Jan) onwards...
I presume its because they brought forward the recess period of P1 to 9:45am just for this three days...
Its a funny arrangement to me becoz if the school is already leaving the P1 kids to buy food themselves on Day 2 & 3, then what's the point of assigning P4 kids to help next week? :scratchhead: :scratchhead: -

Normally, timetable is issued anyday within the 1st week. It will be smaller than the sch organiser/ diary, so that they can paste/ staple it into their sch diary. But there are occasions where teachers ask students to copy the timetable into their diary. And it's white.
Thanks Crystal!Syeda110:
Yup, I did... But I realised some parents didn't... That's the problem with the Orientation Booklet... The list of books to bring was not properly bulleted and is inconsistent in writing style... (E.g. Some has the words \"bk\" behind, some with the word \"bk\" pushed to the next row... And in the case of \"Stellar Handwriting\"... which is a book but didn't have the word \"bk\" added behind \"Stellar Handwriting\".. Hence, creating the confusion that some parents thought \"Stellar Handwriting Portfolio\" means 1 item... when it refers to 2 items \"Stellar Handwriting Book\" and \"Student Portfolio\" (The big white file)...Thanks for your reply,
no time table is not issued today but first 3 days time table is in orientation booklet
Did you send portfolio folder today?
Best part? The big white file does not have the word \"Portfolio\" on it... The only time it tells u the white file is the Student portfolio is from the pink book order list given by the bookstore... Hence, u need to do some \"detective work\" to piece information together...
Also, I felt that the orientation booklet is \"recycled\" and only updated in bits & pieces without an annual thorough review... E.g. There were several parents who were confused with the Maths Workbook to bring on Day 1... It says Part 1 & Part 2 for Workbook 1A on the booklet... when there is only a single 1A workbook... Only when the pink book orderlist has the words \"NEW\" slapped on every Maths books dat one can safely assume that the change was not reflected on the orientation booklet... (Again, some detective work)
And lastly, don't get me started on the acronyms! It's an orientation booklet meant for parents and new parents alike... The school should not assume that every single parent knows every single acronyms...
Good effort on the school part to come up with an orientation booklet but it mars its intended purpose when done in such a shoddy manner...
I beginning to see why my friends who has older kids in Ngee Ann Pri kept highlighting to me that the school has poor administration.... -

RE: Ngee Ann Primary
MT = Mother Tongue
As for Maths, according to booklist, "My Pals Are Here" are new 2013 books…
I think the "Activity Bk 1A Part 1 & 2" mentioned in the orientation booklet may refer to old books… Coz the 2013 maths workbook 1A dun hv Part 1 & 2… For me, I juz bring workbook 1A… Since workbook is a kind of "activity book"… Haha…
My suspicion is dat the orientation booklet was not updated on this change perhaps? -
