Heard from a friend that a bowl of noodle cost $0.70 so the kids need about $2 for pocket money! Also, the class are separated based on month of birth, that is why they have 12 classes.
I wonder typically how much parents give to their primary school children.

RE: Mummy T3: Hi! I am new, just joined yesterday!
Chief, I heard from friends that konghwa has lots of homework so I shy away from the idea to put Glenn there... Konghwa is also a very good school and affiliated to Hokkien Huay Kuan. :celebrate:

RE: Mummy T3: Hi! I am new, just joined yesterday!
Thank you!
That's right... Maybe our children can be classmates....
I join Hokkien Huay Kuan for the recommendation letter for Phase 2B. I heard from my friends that it is better to be a community volunteer cos you can request for recommedation letters for 2 schools. Hokkien Huay Kuan will only give recommendation letter for 1 school.
We are staying 1-2km from TNS so have to ballot for 10 places out of 16 applicants. I really cannot believe that out of 82 places, 72 applicants are staying within 1 km. My friends ever suggested to rent a place within 1 km or change my address to a friend or relatives address that are within 1 km. I do not feel that this is right so I just ignored the suggestions.
Luckily, we got a place in TNS. The 9th one to be picked
Oh ya... my children has been taking the Shicida Method for 2 years already. Probably, I am continuing for my gal (4 years) and stop for my boy. -
RE: CMA Math - Discussion
Questions posted in FB: Abacus mental arithmetic important for children?
Reply from my Teenager Cousin that has taken Abacus…
"Jo and I used to take abacus classes when younger. Jo was so much faster in calculation though… Hmm, it actually helps…even up till now…[though i depend more on the calculator.hee…] so…to me, not say important…but i thought its really good…and effective!"
From a friend that sent his daugthers to abacus…
"Forget it !!!
Me:" Can share more? Other than doing math problem without workings, are there other disadvantages?
Friend: "sent my #1 & #2… stopped doing for #3. It is just hardcore drilling and they forgot everything after a few yr. Unless the school start using abacus…"
Me:"Any difference in the Math grades or speed between ur #3 to #1?"
Friend:"nahh…You can’t get any mileage from it. Primary school math focuses on solving-by-model, none of the mental math will help (nor needed)…"
You have to decide for your children…
I will spend the time and money on other classes for my daugther. -
Mummy T3: Hi! I am new, just joined yesterday!
I have a boy 6 years old going to Tao Nan next year and a 4 year old girl in NAFA Arts Kindergarten. Last night, I read the thread for CMA... It is very beneficial cos I am bringing my gal for the assessment next week. I am wondering should whether should I let me boy join too :? . He is going to P1 next year, seems a bit late...
Anyway, if anyone got questions for NAFA Arts Kindergarten, I maybe able to answer as both my children are in the school.
Take Care! -
RE: CMA Math - Discussion
So glad that I join KS parents today, read the forum on CMA and can get 8% discounts. I plan to bring my 4 year old for the assessment next week. Actually, I want let the 6 year old join but not sure whether it will be too late cos he is going to P1 next year.
