When we open up our school calendar, goto November month, there is this thing called \"Results slip for P4 students, and SBB\"

SBB : I know that it means choose the Subject based combination, for next year 2018 P5.
Example
for Maths : some of us will be doing 2018 Standard Maths, while others will be doing Foundation Maths, based on our year-end P4 Maths results.


This \"Results slip for P4 students\": may I clarify, does it mean we are getting back our Report card on Monday (13 Nov) ?

Yes, the P4s will receive their SA2 and Overall Combined Result Slips and issue of P4 Option Forms for parents to decide and return the option form by end of the week. P5 class allocation will be notified during the school holidays.

Hi Phtthp and Fizz,

If you opt for Higher Chinese (HC) at P5, you will just need to purchase the HC textbook, no need to purchase the normal Chinese books. It’ll still be taught as one subject (Chinese) during curriculum time, like in the case of P1 to P4. However, there’ll be compulsory extra lessons on Monday after school as mentioned previously. The teachers will teach the girls based on both HC and NC formats for exams. There’ll be notes given for both HC and NC words.

Fizz, she’ll need to stay back every Monday from 2.30pm to 4.15pm for HCL.

Hi, I am new to this link. I am thinking of sending my dd to either St Nic or Anderson, but is worry about the stress level. Anyone to advice on the workload?

My dd is in P1 this year. The workload is light at this point as there is not much homework. Hope you make a right choice at the end. Choose the school more convenient for you and with better chance of getting in. At the end of the day, it's your luck whether your child gets good teachers. My dd is not so fortunate this year. I'm just hoping for better luck next year. :xedfingers:

Dear all,

had a call from VP this morning. i was busy whole day until now.

she clarified with the Tr if she really commented 'Shame on you' when she collected that donation card.

the tr did use that phase but she wasn't referring to the amount of money collected. the card was not submitted on time and she only found out that 1 card was missing and she had to go search high and low for it and when she finally found out that it was still with the pupil. she was actually referring to the late submission.

the VP clarified that in that class, there were 7 other pupils who also returned with donations of $10. the VP also reasoned that the TR didn't use that phrase on the other 6 girls and why would she comment on the 7th girl.

i believe this incidence arises due to misunderstanding.
and i am happy with the VP's clarification that the comment was not on the amount of donation raised but on the late submission.

whether the gal would e marked by the tr, this is everybody's guess.
frankly, for myself, if i were the tr, i would definitely 'ignore / not touch' that gal for as far as possible.
unless the tr is really benevolent, i believe she would share the same sentiment as me.

the VP did say something that the school is not aided by MOE and all upgradings/extensions will be funded fully by the donations raised.

PS: the school fee is $11 per month as compared with RMPS or other Govt-aided school, $5.5 a month.

What a convenient excuse, oops ... reply from the teacher. I too agree that there is no need for the use of such strong words for a trivia matter like this. I would also pray that my child would not have such a teacher.

I can understand how you feel, I've the same problem, only BIGGER. My DS don't even qualify for 2A2, cos I come from a girl school, and my DH school is already shut down (He complaint that he got into a lousy school, becos the Govt policy then encourage only 2 children, and he came from a big family, thus was dump into a school that can't even survive). Told him, I should have asked him which Primary School he come from before I married him :stupid:

I'm luckier than you then. I too come from a girl's school and I have 2 DDs. I have a few schools (with g'teed enrolment) to choose from but ironically not the ones nearest to my home and DD's carer's home.

The School Bus Transport Association has advised that bus operators appointed by schools are only allowed to fetch children from their respective schools. Hence cannot "tong bang". Unless there are private bus operators plying the routes there. If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Thanks.


My mum is DD’s after school care, so no matter where I stay, DD still has to go to Holland after school.

Keen on St Nick’s coz it’s affiliated to a good secondary school so we have a little less stress when it comes to PSLE. Plus I want her to study in a "pro-chinese" environment.

In a dilemma now. Called St Nick's bus operator and she said that currently there's no bus service to Holland Area (dd's grandma's) after school. sigh !!! Am an old St Nick's girl and it's a pity if I'm unable to enroll her just because she has no transport home. Any ideas ??? The Phase 2A2 registration is just round the corner.
