    • RE: How to Teach your kid to focus in class?

Getting kids to focus may pose great challenge to parents.

      Here are my several practice:

      - praise him
      - hug him
      - letting him know how you feel towards his behaviour
      - let him understand more if we switch roles
      - pretend not to see (only when you know he is seeking attention)
      - revise with him of the nos even when he is not doing so

sometimes, I will also thank him for his understanding 😉

Anyone can share more ideas

I too agree that many outstanding people do not shine since young. In fact while growing up, these children take different paths using their own judgement & wisdom.

Still, spelling is still one of the ways of word bank not only for my children & also for myself. There is no end to learning :celebrate:

Headstart is one thing. Important areas are the happiness of our children cum whether their developments can take it or not. All these depend on the child's character, environment & parents' choices. Everything ought to be 2-way traffic, must listen to the child's saying at times.

    • RE: Kinderland

cobc: you'd better check with the teachers. From my understanding, tingxie & spelling will only be introduced at term 3 K2. There are actually many other ccc which gave the children headstart at K1 onwards.

I checked Kinderland earlier this year & they cite that their cirriculum for childcare is on par with their kindergarden which is also on par with many pcf in this case then. This yck branch is big but the air con is also very cold

sean wife: there are many english words which are unable to decode using phonics so spelling becomes a kind of field for the children to go through the words at least for once.

I don't wish my children to enter primary school to get a big shock over a different environment followed by ting xie & spelling... I still believed that these words can be part of the word bank which will help them in the composition in near future. It's simply useless to say yet unable to write those words out hence in my case, lsh amk is nothing but only good location. Seeing that teachers do not give extra coaching for the weaker students (K2) is enough for me to say that's it

    • RE: how to get my babygirl to drink water?

The ways to let my children drink more water are:

      - I drinks in front of them or sometimes we drink together or else we will have games like drinking competition, taking turn to drink & the rest clapped etc etc ...

      - Not only do I tell them \"Drink water\", I will also hold the water bottle towards their mouths & they will automatic opened up, gradually I will start talking and get the kids' hands to hold it.

      - I will buy those cartoon character design but before that, I will always say they must finish the water whenever it is inside it or else I will not purchase.

      - I will remind my children that water is a good monster fighter so that it will drive away the yellow monster followed by white monster (colours of the pee).

Whether they did drink a little or alot, I will always try to praise them tog with claps. Please note the drinking water referring to normal boiled version.

I'm still learning, hope to hear more tips :celebrate:

sean wife: if these are your concerns, it will be the best for you to discuss with your child’s teacher. Based on your experience with her, plus talking with other classmates’ parents you can see if enrichments are needed to fill up the hole. You can get to know other parents whom children are there at other levels so that you can take a look at their work.

Practice makes perfect so I still prefer to have a slot at ccc delicated for writing & reading at whichever languages esp K2 level conducted by a delicate teacher of course.

qms: as I mentioned before, planning is done by teachers so definitely inconsistency will surface. Moreover, different branches run at different style due to principal's way of doings. So long there is no big mistakes done which resulted via media, mgmt don't care ($$ still roll in)... this is what I heard during my experience with lsh staffs. Don't blame me if this is otherwise 😢

    • RE: Little Skool House

I will like to clarify: Lsh still exposed children to writing but this is not strongly emphasis which is why they greatly encouraged parents to do this more at home. Of course if the student is very onz then this is not an issue anymore… or that particular batch of students are smarter which motivates the teachers to spur them more challenges, why not…

sean wife: regarding school holidays. Actually there are many enrichment centres offering holiday programmes like Lorna Whiston, Kinderland, baker inn etc etc it’s a matter of who can bring your children to & fro the locations.

One of my children used to be from lsh amk.

The receptionist had memorised everything, don't ask her. She is sharp & act accordingly. Talk to the teachers instead.

Unlike the previous principal, the present one is too soft, blur and had done some scopes which shouldn't be her job in the first place. Some of the parents & I wasn't really liked her style of doing.

From diseases' view: every weekends it is very normal to see many other activities going on inside. There are a few times of the year that hfmd spreading from class to class. The cleaner auntie is not that ons, clean as & when she is needed. The entrance door thermometer usu indicates lower temperature.

From academic view: no spelling nor ting xie. Writing is strongly encouraged for parents to do it at houme. Hypy introduced at K2, jolly phonics from N2 onwards. Learning thru play is always the case. Teachers planned the activities, not the mgmt so you need to pray hard for a good caring teacher to handle your child's class otherwise you need to ask everything all over again. There is no academic handover normally. The topics were will paste on the wall.

From motor skills' view: this centre owned a playground solely used by the students. Each class area is big so there are plenty of activities going on.

This ccc is very very popular due to its good location. You will still need to pay enrichment centres for pri. school preparation.

Sorry... I am too straight forward  ...
