Difficulty level is relative.

DS definition of tough for Math was that there were 7Q he didn’t know how to do.
English had challenging vocab, English passage had " 4, no 8!" pages ( eye-roll, from the mouth of babes, make what u will of it). However, it was still doable since meaning can be gleaned from context.
DS is taking the test commando-style, au-natruale. This being his "first national exam" , it will b interesting to see where he stands.
Like all parents in this forum, I am rooting for him. Just jump over the screening hurdle. The selection test is inconsequential for us.

DS is the contrarian. He found Math more challenging, even though he had time to check through.

What was surprising were the number of kids who chose to sit-out the test. 2 were formal requests by parents, a week prior . On the day itself, another 10, on their own accord!

Whoa , they sure know how to st-r-e-a-ch the notification. I visualize a harried clerk, copying and pasting email one by one, then pressing the send button. All the while, the phones are ringing off the hook. Had a similar experience, dif project, but to 100+ hods. It was tough even with a batch processing tool. Extrapolate it to hundreds, if not thousands of applicants. Tough job. Let’s cut them some slack.


I think this DSA process has snowballed to a parallel PSLE admission exercise.
With the entry is still as fine as the eye of a needle, this means the odds are increasingly stacked against the participants. It’s not surprising that the schools are simply overwhelmed. After going through this exe, I now appreciate the process HCI has implemented. It’s the most expedient and exacts the least resources for both parties.

I 2nd lurline ..... It's not the end of the world. Maybe we're all suffering from withdrawal after the adrenaline rush these past couple of weeks.


It's not over until the confirm/ decline letter is sent. Much of the info floating in the forum is fr the grapevine, good intention it may be, it may not always be accurate.

Receiving and accepting a CO means DCs' options are closed. It is a commitment, after all. Saying \"yes\" is a double-edged sword if you have your eye on an IP programme too. Just saying.

Anyways, if DC is set on SST, there is a still a small window of opportunity after PSLE results are released. This was mentioned at the Openhouse. Not sure about the process.

Maybe NJC will take the trophy as the -latest- to release Round1 results. Boy oh boy are they conservative, waiting for the other schools to show their hand first.


I think it's very generous of the school administrators to release the HAST results to the students, the possibility of irate parents questioning the selection basis notwithstanding. It lends some clarity to the selection process . Like which paper carries the most weight ( Eng, Math, Reasoning ?) , past years' track record or even CCA participation.


I'm not ashamed to admit DS has had a couple of Rejections. I can see though he is more motivated now, with the wake up call. In fact, he's morphed into a totally different animal. Perhaps it's the water the kids are drinking in school this term ..... Hmmmmmm
I'm not complaining.
