Hi,
heard from niece in JC 1 that the lecture pace is super fast and some of the students are quite lost after class. How to catch up ? Any tips?

He can.Appreciate is someone can help clarify on the calculation.
My son scored A2 for Higher Mother Tongue at his GCE O Levels.
Hence, he didn't take it in JC.
When calculating the University Admission Point (UAP), can he use his HMT score achieved at O Level?
Thank you.
Not sure it is 20 points or 17.5 points though. -
RE: National Junior College (Junior High)
Hi, my child says H2 Biology is very hard ans she is totally lost in lecture and tutorial. I found a Biology tutor who used to teach at NJC and before that was at ACJC. His name is Mr Karman Chua. Anyone knows him?
wanted to let my child start small group tuition with him asap. I think if can start an exclusive class for NJC students, it will be ideal.
If you are keen in joining his class, please PM me.
TQ! -

you'll be surprised! most schools don't have these prepared! They do have sanitary napkins though.
we shall give feedback to girls schools and ministry of education.slmkhoo:
I was also curious if it happens in school.Maybe I should speak to DD's form teacher tomorrow about this though.
Every school with girls in this age range must have preparations for this to happen. They usually have spare uniforms and necessary supplies. I remember it happening to my classmates when I was in school too. -

RE: 8 Junior Colleges are Merging? Rumors or Reality?
slmkhoo:
Actually, the govt plan to have up to 40% of each cohort to be graduates. At the moment, it's around 30% even with the increases over the past couple of decades. In any case, if the range of jobs remains about the same (we will always need a mix of different types of jobs), even if 80% are graduates, it will just mean that many graduates will be doing what used to be non-graduate jobs. If students are going to get degrees just because they want to study a few more years out of interest, that's a good thing; but if all graduates expect to get what used to be \"graduate\" jobs (ie. top 20%), many will be disappointed.
Quite true.lee_yl:
Go n read \"state review\" and u will know the true reasons of the jc merger.
So the govt is planning to restrict 30% of every cohort to go local Uni?
No wonder 8 JCs affected but currently no plan for Poly to be merged.
It actually depends on the type of jobs available in the job market. -

Hi, I suppose should be quite high.hi, does anyone know the percentage of sec 4 boys who manage to get b4 and above for their HCL so they can drop in Jc1?
Thanks!
Though some students may choose to do it again in year 5 if they do not get a A1 or A2. -

Nebbermind:
Independent schools aside, I always thought IP schools would not have more than 30 per class.
I think it depends.
Some classes could be even 33-35.
My nephew from ACSI said his school hired a lot of ang mo teachers. But they only work there for a few years or even few months.
