Hello! πŸ™‚ after going to the CCA Orientation, I found that many CCAs interested me, but can any seniors recommend how many CCAs to try out for? What's the norm? Thanks! πŸ™‚

Um maybe 4-6? Although u can try out for more if u are worried that u won't get in...
Sometimes they also tell u if you've gotten in shortly after the trials (like 1 / 2 days later) so if u really want that CCA and you've already gotten in u can just skip the rest of the trials you've signed up for. Just email the teacher in charge πŸ™‚
Personally, I signed up for like 7 CCA trials πŸ˜› but since I had already gotten into my 1st choice CCA, I just skipped the rest of the trials haha πŸ˜›

Also, if u are interested in a CCA that can be counted as a merit cca (eg robotics, debate, etc.), u can have that as a 2nd CCA on top of ur core CCA πŸ™‚ u only need like 35% attendance for merit CCAs...

I am a bit confused here. With reference to Mr Choo's talk yesterday, it seems that there is no such thing as core and merit CCA anymore. At least it wasn't mentioned at all. Only 3 CCA (eg.library) can only be taken as a 2nd CCA.

Yesterday when we went round the CCA booth, some seniors didn't know the change (or was there?), but one girl was very confidently telling us that there is a change and every CCA, except for the 3, can be taken as a main CCA.

      Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi, everyone. My DD will be joining RGS next year. We are staying at Bedok and would like to look for buddies who are willing to share a cab to school every morning. We were thinking of getting a cab driver who could pick 3 to 4 girls at a fixed fee per month. It may cost a little more than school bus, but we don't have to pay during school holidays and most importantly, our DD can wake up later in the morning.

Hi, any takers so far? I'm interested too.

If parents are worried about safety, we will be hiring a specific driver, so we will have his contact. And if you are concerned with reliability, I know of RGS school bus driver who did not turn up in the morning, and parents got to rush their DD to school. No refund was made!

The cost per trip should be around $20. If we have 4 girls, the cost is not very much higher than school bus, not forgetting that we don't have to pay for school holidays (while school buses charge 12 months!). Think about it.
