Thanks to sembgal and all other parents for sharing generously!
I have definitely learnt a lot and changed some strategies based on the recommendations.
Can I ask if anyone knows of good holiday classes for Chinese compo? Thank you!

You can read the above links. I found them by chance when I was doing a Google search on Chinese oral and composition resources online. I bought the Ocean P3/4composition guide book for my dd. The high volume of Chinese words which are very small and it puts her off reading that book entirely. I could only select those topics that are more common in exam, read word by word or phrase by phrase together with her and explain to her in English what the Chinese words mean. Eg: η«εδΈδΈ
My dd will think that the phrase has something to do with 3 fires! I had to explain that it means very angry οΌηζ°οΌ. That is why you see the η«γ
By looking at that thick book, we do not have the luxury of time to complete all the pages. We did just a few compositions.
Building up the language takes time and we have to start from somewhere. I'm sure Popular has many more of such Chinese model Composition books which parents can buy. Reading model compositions help to a certain extent. -
What would be considered a good score for P3 compo and zuowen? I don't want to over-react by signing on additional classes, but also worried that if no action taken, the road ahead will become even more slippery...
For me, 17/20 and above is consider good grades. ζηθ¦ζ±εΉΆδΈι«ε¦
A decent pass in zuo wen is 14/20 according to school teacher, as long as you write out a complete story with a good conclusion, even though no good phrases used. But straight away fail if no conclusion. Teacher also shared that assuming you write the same way like in P2, a 18/20 zuo wen will usually get 14/20 in P3 at most as expectations are higher now.
But having said that, still have classmates who get 19.5/20 this round for zuo wen, and they can really write well in that 40 minutes based on the 'model' compo I saw.
Anyone has tips on how to improve zuowen?
So far, only tried buying model composition books for DD to read. But she's not interested in them at all! Chinese storybooks also not keen. So whilst her P2 is good, P1 is terok... Wonder how is that possible.

Hi!
You can try Just Education. They have experiments occasionally. But when you ask them who are their teachers for next year, they can't tell you.FantasyLandDreams:
Hi
May I know which science enrichment course include doing science experiment?
I have yet to come across a science enrichment centre that comes with a science lab? Thanks.
Usually I go for those centres that I know who will be the teachers teaching.
My gal is also a 2007 and now quite gancheong about her science. Thanks sembgal for the thoroughness in science suggestions.
I'm thinking of getting her subscriptions to science magazines like Young Scientists etc. What does everyone think of that? Is is a necessity? Would tuition centres have such materials for the children to browse, borrow etc?
Thank you!
