Hi Namie,

I am very sorry to hear that. As a man, I totally disagree with your hubby's comments and behaviour ! How can he call himself to be a man ??? Me and my spouse collectively helped my DS (my DD who is 15 helped a little too), and my DS put in his best effort. My spouse coached him on theory, and I spent countless hours marking assessment books (down to the last page in each book) and past year school papers (including corrections done by DS). My DS told us that he hopes his PSLE results will be a reflection of his standard and efforts. This is not a time to play the blame game. Your hubby needs to grow up ! Now should be the time to sit down calmly to review the options and the possible 6 choices, based on the T-score.

Husband is very unhappy with child’s results. She is already feeling very upset and he scolded her twice, saying her grades are her own fault. Then blame me for not coaching her well enough even though I took two months’ leave to coach her daily. Now both child and I have no lunch. 😞

My DS's AiTong classmate got 260 and ESIS was printed on his classmate's eligibility letter.

So it seems that 260 is the cut-off for ESIS (top 3% of the cohort).

Not sure about cut-off for 3rd language (top 10% of the cohort).
ESIS is for top 3 %?

What is the cut-off for ESIS this year? Last year was 262.

And what is the cut-off for foreign 3rd language (e.g., Spanish, German, Japanese)? Last year was 252 I think.

Confirmed 260 receive EESIS. Anyone lower than that get EESIS? Seems like easy psle=narrower psle score distribution
hello, what are the chances of getting into CHIJ SNGS (IP) with an agg score of 256?

First of all, congrats !

I was at at SNGS Open House yesterday morning.
Based on what the principal shared, they have about 300++ students (IP and O level track).
She said that we should just put our dream school as first choice.

Even though the COP may go up this year, IMHO, 256 stands a very good chance for SNGS (IP).

Hi,

My DS has scored 3A for Eng, Chinese, Science and 1A* for Maths. His T-score is a 228, is it common? Anybody has scored similar grade and T-score.

It is very disappointing to him as he felt that with the grade, he should achieve min 23x.

Thanks
On page 25 of this thread, Mr Bean shared about his DS's classmate having A* for English, and A for Chinese, Math and Science -- this classmate's aggregate was 252.
The only thing we know is that the range of marks for A is wide (75-90), so that may offer part of the explanation.

Continue to encourage your DS to do his best for his Secondary School and beyond.
The learning journey is a long one, and those with good learning attitude will succeed.
Can I ask for advice? My DD got 252+2...

May I know if she is eligibility for 3rd Lang inclusive of French/German/Jap etc?
Trying to establish the lowest t-score of top 10%.

Yes.
Hi.
The S1 option form (green form) clearly indicates if a student is eligible for 3rd Language (French, German, Jap, Spanish).
You just need to refer to the paragraph on Third Languages in the form. It will spell out very clearly.
If you only see Malay and Arabic, but no mention of French/German/Jap/Spanish, that means your DD is not offered.

Based on what I have read in this forum, it seems that the cut-off for this year's top 10% is around 255 or 256.
Hope that helps.

Hello. I have been offered a place in NYGH via DSA, and in PSLE I got a t score of 269+3, which makes it 272. Based on my t score, will I be in the lower section, the average section or the upper section in the school? Will I be able to get into the top class in the school? Thanks in advance and I hope this was not posted in the inappropriate thread.

Hello there,
First of all, congratulations to you on obtaining such excellent results !

Based on what has been shared thus far in this forum about this year's results, with more students scoring above 250 and COP for EESIS being 262, it is likely that the COP for NYGH will be increases by several points from last year's 262 (for non-affiliated students).
And it is given that all who apply for NYGH would have taken Higher Chinese and either scored Merit or Distinction.
NYGH's DSA exercise typically takes in 200 students (50% of their Sec 1 cohort), comprising GEP and MS students.
Also, they are likely to take in another 80 students (?) or so from NYPS - their affiliated primary school who has done extremely well this year.
It will depend on how the school will group the students ...

starlight1968sg:
How to prep for application qns ?

No straight forward answers.

1. Try to ask the school teacher to provide more questions for students to attempt (for exposure), and to guide them on the approach/methodology to tackle the questions.

2. Seek external help (ie tuition/enrichment classes). I cannot comment on all the enrichment centres, but some do offer their students enough guidance to help them do well.
I shall not name there here, because my purpose is not advertise/promote these centres, but my DD had benefited from attending one such centre that is well-established.

I have to say that I have seen cases where the school teachers taught the Math or Science topics in one way, but the enrichment centre taught in another way, and my DD got confused as to who to follow.
I told her to follow the enrichment centre -- for reasons that are plain obvious.
Getting good P6 results in school is important, but the ultimate goal is to do well for PSLE.

Happy Mum:
Hurray! Thank you for creating this thread. Was waiting for someone to create this. Haha...too shy to start.

I think it is a good time to start preparing too...after the holidays. But I have started to source for tuition especially Chinese!
Yes, preparation starts now. And it greatly helps if your DC is taking Higher Mother Tongue.

My DS will be taking his PSLE in 2018 too, and the PSLE Chinese exam format will be changed from 2017 onwards (so our kids will be the second batch to go through it).
The new format is tough ! (had recently attended a talk by a Chinese Enrichment Centre, and the principal shared some sample questions ...)
