hhehe i find your sharing so interesting because I thought it was reverse ! I thought CHIJ KP was more relaxed, and HGS was more academia focused ( hence their higher percentage of girls scoring above 250) . Im sure it cant be SOO relaxed, they did score an impressive 80%++ for A/A*s for Chinese !!! And this is the area that dd really need’s help as…my Chinese totally cannot pass lol !!
But I’m also impressed by CHIJ’s strong reputation in English & getting the girls to communicate well. I do think this is an important skill as they grow older and move into the outside world…any sort of brilliance will be limited if they cannot communicate their ideas to others.
Pirate, I think you’re right - can only decide by a coin toss !!

RE: [Geylang] Primary Schools
Hi Skyjp - in my humble opinion i think based on the previous years , you have a good chance to secure either Haig Girls' or CHIJ Katong in Phase 2C given your location.
I have spoken to parents with girls in either schools, and all are happy with their respective choices. I know that doesnt help, but rest assured there is good news on both sides ...?

RE: [Geylang] Primary Schools
Hi All - I just wanted to share that there some schools may be using different cut off points when posting PSLE results on their website so always good to check back on the school’s website. I noticed for example that the Haig Girls’ website indicates a percentage of girls eligible for Express Stream or Normal Academic. I called the school and they confirmed they use a cut off point of 188 for their statistics on their website.
CHIJ Katong indicate on their website % of students eligible for Express Stream (without Normal Academic) & therefore use a cut off point of 200. I also called the school to confirm this. I know this may seem very obvious to those experienced parents but I thought it was worth sharing as I saw in an earlier thread these 2 figures being compared against each other , but actually the basis for their figures is slightly different.
Hope that helps any parents out there ! -
RE: Haig Girls'
I managed to check with Haig Girls’ ; they use a cut off point of 188 for their statistics on their website indicating those girls eligible for Express Stream or Normal Academic.
Another nearby school indicate on their website % of students eligible for Express Stream (without Normal Academic) & therefore use a cut off point of 200. Hope that helps any parents out there ! -
RE: Haig Girls'

RE: CHIJ (Katong) Primary
mumluv I totally agree with you, I really do wish that more schools had open houses so we can get a feel for the environment and kids. I don’t feel comfortable selecting a school without seeing it … A bit like ordering a mail order bride based on bio data and picture only…

RE: Haig Girls'
So if I am comparing to "% eligible for the Express Stream (w/o Exp/N(A))" from another school, it isn’t exactly the same as they are using 200 as the COP and not 188 ( although it is very close). Is that correct?
Sorry for all the newbie questions but just want to ensure I am understanding the figures correctly. -
RE: Haig Girls'
Can someone advise whether I am reading the results from the Haig Girls correctly; the figures regarding those eligible for the Express Stream include those that went to Normal Academic as well? I assume that's what the E/N(A) refers to on the website's graphs?

RE: CHIJ (Katong) Primary
Hi pirate, can I ask if you know the % eligible for express stream over the last few years? I saw some figures from another thread but I’m not sure as to their source…
