To self -study these topics still not easy for Sec 1 newbies. Need lots of discipline. Yr daughter's class must be very independent n intellectual.
My girl's class to self study only Chpt 6. Guess her Geog teacher no confidence in this class to do their own self study, in case they stray.

Her class is not the top 2 class. Geo teacher is only a relief teacher, probably datz y so relax lor. Hopefully, they get a perm geo teacher nxt semester. The last class test, i think like more than 1/2 the class failed. :slapshead:

Abt the self study of subject- Geog, the teacher will go through with the class. Teacher perhaps wants to cultivate independent learning.

Don't worry abt Chinese progress, besides Chinese Textbk, sch is also exposing St Nicks pupils to Chinese Literature text which they hv bou.

Finally it's confirmed! Moving back to AMK Campus on 30 May'12.

Yes, CA2 will be 8/5 according to calendar. But test scope isn't out yet. Shd be testing some Term 1 (topics not tested during CA1)and the bulk from Term 2. By studying these topics won't go wrong.

There is Chinese lesson daily. Chinese teacher gets class to finish most wksheets in sch. In fact, mine just had a Chinese Test yesterday n Lit Test today.

Self study 2 Geo chapters-why? Any reason given? Is it E-learning?

For my gal's class, Chinese teacher is very off the ball. Only 2 sheets of homework for this term :slapshead: She also just had her chinese test on fri. Dont think she can make it lor coz practically this term teacher nvr teach much or give much homework lor.

Looks like need to call school and chk if it is true that the gals have to self-study 1 - 2 chapter of geog. My gal say teacher says itz decision from the geog dept.

i heard that they have change a new principal this year. The principal formally from Woodlands Primary School. Maybe it will be better?? But teachers’ turnover is very common lor, even in my elder’s pri sch.

my DS is now in NUS High. Competition is much higher, well, that's expected. He has to strive to do his best, since I can't coach him anymore. Too difficult for me now.
My younger DS is also in Challenge class. Err...i don't know what's recipe to get into Challenge. I can only say that teachers count a lot in the final 100m dash. Can be pretty stressful for kids in P6. Lots of moral support needed. This year, the school has started Maths Olympia classes for selected kids. I am surprised since my older DS did not have such classes previously, whereas other schools already have such schemes. There are pros and cons in having such \"enrichment\" classes, which I have mixed feelings. Anyway younger DS enjoys it so I let it be. Ultimately we have to \"hear\" what the kids want and can do.
