gumiho:Normal 8 year old behaviour. Best time to teach her facing the truth and not lie. Just keep repeating it. You may also want to pick your battles. Sometimes even if you know. Don't ask her. So she won't have to lie. Punish when wrong and if serious. Eg. Lying in defiance to your instructions.8yo. She is a daredevil, not afraid of punishment.
I don't think she tell lies to hide her \"secret\". I just feel telling lies has become her habit. She can even tell lies at the very simplest thing.
Eg. I saw her tickling her sister (when her sister was asleep) then I asked her why was she doing that. Then she told me she saw a red bump on her sister's stomach and she was helping her to scratch. I knew she love telling lies then I asked her,\" Really ? You better don't lie to me again.\" Then she confessed actually she was tickling her sister.

RE: Kids steal money
I think just teach her. 8 year old can’t be too vicious. She probably used to sharing everything in the family. Do you think she steals in school? Like suddenly got new pens, pencils and things you never seen before?

RE: Where to buy recorder (musical intrument)?
Actually the other thing about smell, does your dd blow with a lot of saliva? Maybe ask her to "swallow" first and try to blow "dry" air? Then the recorder not so smelly? Dunno how to teach. Maybe other parents know but basically I think she is lowing a lot of saliva in the thing. Maybe that’s why smelly?

RE: music theory
Or maybe try one of the bigger music schools. But there is little fun for your daughter if she just learn the theory. Why don’t you let her have a bit of practical too?

RE: All About Autism
Gifts from Heaven:
Hi,
Just want to check with mummies/daddies with ASD kids in primary school. Did you let your kid take his injections in school or did you bring him to your own doctor to get his injections?
I know two friends who was just also talking about this. They would rather bring him to their own doctor. It reduces anxiety being with parents. In school, it just singles them out and it can be quite traumatizing for kids with the diagnosis. -
RE: CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Secondary
I think it’s stressful. My elder dd has such a hectic schedule. She sometimes sleeps only 4 hours and have not much time for anything else.

RE: Water bottles
Sarahtan:
I don't like camelbak. I tried drinking for fun frm my hubby's sbo. So hard to drink. Bite and suck at same time. it's such a wierd thing. And if you put cold water. Sometimes it starts to leak when it heats up because of pressure. And so hard to wash the rubber mouthpiece thing and tube some more
Haha. My kids are chewers. They like to bite everything for edibles to non edibles!! So my best water bottles are those that are strong and even if they bite, it must be able to Tahan. Or it should have something that you can't easily bite on like those twist kind. It should also not leak and look pretty too.

RE: Where to buy recorder (musical intrument)?
Haha. I think everyone here also agree all kids bite on recorders. Just how much only. You have seen my kid’s recorders. Theirs is pretty bad! So yours not so bad already! I would continue to let her use it too after all it’s only a few more months.
But if it continues to become smelly, then it is a hygiene issue rather than the teethmarks. Also, unless she’s in school, I usually remind my kids to brush their teeth before practicing on the recorder. The bad smell usually means there is some bacteria there. My dd, while she chews a lot on the recorder and it looks yucky, she does wash it quite often so it’s not too smelly.
If it continues to smell, I would think better Change it now. Don’t want her to get sick. -
RE: Where to buy recorder (musical intrument)?

starlight1968sg:
Is it Another blowing instrument? Is it noisy and is it before it after recorder? Why these schools make us buy these things? How long will you keep them in your storeroom??!!spwriting:
Lucky you. No more recorder noise. I can't wait to throw those things away! (I won't even keep in store room!)
Unsure if your children's school would introduce another \"toy\" called an ocarina. I have a big and a small, bought during her p sch days. Now also resting in store room
