      Mathizzzfun,

Thanks v much for the explanation and giving me the p3 link. Indeed V enlightening.

After reading and analyzing, I realized the method and logic is same as the Beef question as posted by rrjan above. Drawing a model out would visually enable the child to ‘see’ why we need to add 30 and 5. Will explain to my kid.

      MathizzFun,

My mistake. It should be :

Miss Lim bought a packet of sweets to distribute to her class. If each child gets 3 sweets, she would be left with 30 sweets. If each child gets 4 sweets, she would need 5 more sweets.
      A) how many children are there in her class?
      B) how many sweets did Miss Lim have at first?

The answer is 35 kids. Onsponge solution is that by adding 1 sweet per child = 30+5 sweets (short fall plus extra). Hence the answer is 35 kids. Using multiples may be very time consuming in this example so Onsponge solution is quick and accurate. But my problem is how to explaib to my gal. She gave me a blank look when I tried to explain :?:

      CNS,

Which level is your child in now? My gal is in P3 this year. Yes, RSS do not stream children into "best" and "not so good" classes till end of P4. RSS is probably one of the few pri schools that does not believe in streaming. I know TPS have streaming every year. So depending on whether the child can maintain the results, they may be in different class every year. I guess there is pros and cons to streaming but the stress is great on parents and the kids.

      crazylake,

When I joined pv last time, it was the ex- ex principal so probably not the same. I guess you need to highlight your strength and the areas in which you can help. For e.g. if you're SAHM, you can tell them your hours are flexible and can come in as and when required for contact time (one hr every week on Wed). I heard a parent can take professional photographs so she volunteered to be photographers on special events. Another was an artist and she volunteered in some art project.

Not so sure about RS Society. You could also explore Grassroot which be more flexible.

Thanks starry15, only now i feel i should learn more to qualify for a PV 🙂 myself is full time working engineer and hubby bio scientist, was surgery doctor before, if highlight this got any better chance? we are staying within 1km...

Maybe can proposed to help science club or coach the Psle students science subject? I guess the more you write the higher chance of being selected.
Wish u Good luck! I realized p1 registration is getting tougher. My friends who got in through ballot was so happy like strike toto :grphug:

      Hi mummy,

Im planning to bring my son to taipei before he go to P1 & will also bring my 22mths girl together....can anyone give a advise shld i bring my both kids there...if yes, any good place to recommend.
Hi I went last Nov with my 3 kids, 8, 7 and 18 mths then. I brought my helper because we wanted to go night market and it is not advisable to bring toddlers as they are very crowded.

Can bring your 2 kids to baby boss. The toddler can go in free but she can't play the activities. There is a toddler indoor playground or gym next to Babyboss which is quite fun. My boy played inside while my older kids roleplay in babyboss. But as the 2 places are separate, you and your hubby may need to 'split up' to care for both. The indoor gym is very reasonable only ~sgd12 for whole day.

I also recommend window of china or Xiao Ren Guo as the rides are for younger kids. My boy sat on the circuit car with my hubby. They have bumper car for below 6 yo and many other rides. My kids love Doraemon and they have live performance hourly and phototaking session.

Zoo is good if you want to see panda. The ticket was v cheap compare to SG zoo. If I recall it is around Sgd3 per pax. We didn't stay long as it was weekend and vv crowded. Can take cable car from near the zoo up to Maokong.

I went Hualien and book a cab to bring us around. V convenient. Food are chinese so kids adjust well. The nite market at hualien is not crowded so you can bring your gal.
Taiwan is very kid friendly. All the Mrt has huge nursing rooms.

      Dicky,

Your friend is within 1km or 1-2km? If she is not lucky this time, ask her to talk to the principal and put on wait list. Usually they give priority to pv. My friend didn’t get in but she managed to be high on wait list so when pp withdraw, she got her kid in just before school opens.
