AL 8M

1st choice - SCGS IP
2nd choice - Cedar Girls IP
3rd choice - St Nicholas O level

Results - St Nicholas O level
Question to MOE - How can you determine whether a student qualifies for O level or IP track based on balloting? Does it make sense to the student?
May I asked if you DD is PR?

DS friends (singaporean) got into SJI with AL8 while i have friend son with AL8 didnt get it (PR) but get O lvl

ACSI is the top IB boy school in Singapore. So certainly you will need to put it as 1st choice to stand a chance with AL7.
This is scary, even AL7 second choice also balloted out....

Guess choice is also important. But if my DS is also AL7M, I will also put HCI as 1st choice.
As reported on CNA

\"However, if two or more students have the same PSLE Score and same citizenship status, the student who ranked the school higher will be considered first, said MOE\"

DS Singaporean AL7M, first choice HCI, 2nd ACSI, posted to 3rd choice of RVHS.

Worry is over, now is time to book slot for books and uniform purchase. Need to report to school on 10 Jan 22 with full RVHS uniform.

Anyone know if RV has shoes rules?
Any idea what is ACSI cut off?

My son friend AL8, SJI IB not offered but express!
Another boy AL8, SJI not offered but RV 2nd choice IP

Hi Everyone

I was reading thru all the posting for the past few days and I am just curious and wish to clarify on consideration for Secondary school.

My boy gotten - AL5 (total) for his PSLE.

Of course we are overjoyed as we believe he can go for any school he wanted, we are at his side, providing advise to his school selection but we are clear that he will be the one to make the final choice.

He final 1st choice is: SJI (IP) - aiming to do IB

As he's from a Lasallian Primary school hence a lot of his current classmate is also heading to the same institute. As we were looking thru all the comments there's little mention of SJI. IS there any reason? or just its a good school but not the top choices?

Hi Mercury stop
Your boy made a good choice, SJI is in my boy top choice too
SJI is very popular among the boys while HCI/RI is popular for the parents 😂

In fact i know many boys around me that score good AL is putting SJI as top 2 choices

I was talking to a parent (Son is currently in SJI), she told me, to enter to medicine, for IB, only require score of 36 while for A lvl, student basically needs to score all A  (maybe some parent here can confirmed)...she said maybe not many parent found out yet hence IB is still not very popular 😂 ..as compared to HCI/RI IP....this is her theory

Hi, I hv one urgent query pls. My child scored AL4 in psle and also got confirmed offer from NUSH today through SIE. We are at foreigner status, shall we wait for the S1 posting outcome( RGS is option 1 in S1 posting) or shall go with NUSH. Which should be the better choice. Thank you🙏
Congrats! AL4 is the best result one can get. She can go to any school in Singapore, instead of parent decide, let her decide
My colleague DS gotten 262 last yr, and he took up the NUSH offers through SIE too. The only thing my colleague was unsure - the school fees as they are holding PR status. The school fees is ~ S$700+/mth for PR as compared to Gov aided IP school of S$400. But the boy decided to took up the NUSH. My colleague told me his son is happy there. 😄

I think both school fees for a foreigner status is QUITE high..so no different choosing which school if financial is another deciding factor for your family.
Stay in west and kid got a AL6(M). Original plan for RVHS (nearset SAP IP) but would like to try out HCI (but kind of far).
Came out with below list and wonder if RVHS (as 2nd choice) is a sure safe catch if did not get HCI?

1) HCI
2) RVHS
3) RI
4) NJC
5) Nanhua
6) Swiss Cottage

RI and NJC will not have the chance to consider your application because you have indicated RVHS AL9 (D) as second choice. AL6(M) getting into RVHS is a certainty.

If I am in your position, I would place 1) RI. 2) HCI 3) NJC, 4) RVHS

If you are living in the west why not also consider ACS(I) IB program as well?

I advised not to place this way, choice matters this year. Popular schools will be filled up at most by 2nd choice. Even your mark is above cop. If u cannot make RI, HCI, Rv and njc may most probably be filled up and you cannot enter even score is above COP. 1st choice is most important as schools are empty. Use your choice carefully. I suggested HCI as first choice. RV or NJ can be 2nd choice.
AL system emphases in MERIT when come to S1 posting, for AL6M, RI should be the 1st choice, unless the child dream school is HCI, he will surely get in first before RI.
