My son came back home after his three days SCOUT camp. SO DIRTY and SO TIRED.

DS came home from 2D1N RV Camp, tired but not dirty..
DS says there were lots of outdoor activities (DS looks like a lobster now), but no choir practices at all, during the camp..
DS says they slept in the air-conditioned classrooms.. šŸ˜„

Hi sunj1252 & firefly

Can share your ds experience in Scouts so far and whether you would encourage anyone to join this CCA ? My ds going to RI next year and he may join Scouts.. am concerned if this CCA will take up a lot of his time and how many camps in a year ?
Because my ds does not have specificial sports, art or music gift, he joined 01 Scouts uniform group. Every Monday and Wendesday afternoon from 3.30pm to 6.45pm, sometimes activity on Saturday. They were asked to join several school camps for 3 - 5 days. There are a total of 3 major school camps, one for each school holiday. In this CCA, the boys have more physical training and learn outdoor skills.

My son will be in RI year 1 in 2013 & we stay in the east (Pasir Ris).

1) Anyone knows of any car pool available or interested in sharing ?
2) any advice on school bus/ public bus transport there or back ?
3) Also, is it difficult to get into CCA like Floorball ?

:congrats:
Take MRT from Pasir Ris to Payalaber, then change Circle Line to Bishan, then walk 5 minutes

Can anyone please give suggestion about the travel Malaysia next year - Malaysian Montage 2013?

1. How much money to carry? The notice letter mentioned to carry S$150 or MYR350. Will the food be provided for these boys? If so, is it too much?
2. Where to buy eye drops (I think it is for boys swimming), and what brand?
3. Beside the luggage, is it possible to carry a bag for daily travel?
Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks a lot.
:thankyou:

My son is in SCOUT camp these days. It is raining these days and very cold. I am worrying very much because they are sleeping on the grass ground.

Their handphones are all collected by trainer, I can not get the latest information.
Why do not the boys hold their hand phone?

Verysuperkiasu:
Same here, Sunj1252 - I do have the same concerns. My son came home also around 7plus to 8pm on Mon and Wed. And firefly - like you, just when I think finally he can come home early today - he has to attend the meeting with seniors. Worst, tmr (friday) he actually can come home early but he has to stay back for additional BB drills cuz of this Sunday's enrolment service. After that it's Mon to Wed camp! It's like one endless continuous stretch.... And he wants to meet up with his primary 6 friends some more. I wonder if he ever has the time to study.

During the briefing which my dh attended, the teachers stressed the importance of revising what have been taught and reading ahead of lessons. I really don't see how this can be done if CCA takes up soooo...much time. All ds could manage to do or rushed to do is his homework. Hardly anytime left to read up.

Indeed it is a big problem for my DS no time to study. Everyday he has not enough time to do his homework. He always finishes the homework that must be submitted next day and leave the others until he is \"free\" some day. When he was in primary school, I always asked him to study more additional stuffs after he completed his homework. But now I will thank god if he can complete his homework everyday without delay submission.
There are also activities on Saturday and Sunday even school holiday. Why does not the school give the boys more time to rest and make up?
The boys sleep very insufficient everyday.
