FQW:
DS recently completed his swim safer gold certification. I would like him to continue going for certification but not competitive swimming. Question is, what's next? He's 8 this yr. Thx.
Hi all,
Information to all parents
About 50 of us coaches been brief by Spore Swimming Association that they will be launching 20new awards in July 2013 for those wanting to challenge themselves further.
They will bridge the gap bet swimsafer and competitive swimming.
These awards are swimming within a timing with proper stroke and technique according to FINA rules
I will also be one of the tester for this new awards at a centralized testing pool at Toa Payoh -

ChiefKiasu:
Do take note your kid is require to be able to swim all the four strokes if he wants to joint the competitive.cmm:
...Is P1 too early to start on competitive swimming? My boy is very active and has loads of energy, he is also very mischievous, so I am considering starting him on some activity where he will learn to be disciplined.
I can assure you that P1 is not too early to start competitive swimming. Most kids that are serious starts training from 3-4 years old, and by 5, they would be able to swim 30 lengths of the pool easily within an hour using any stroke. I know that as a fact
So if he take another year to learn the back and fly, by p2 he should be able to joint!
From your post your boy is hyper active with discipline issue which you have to deal with first, if not very difficult for the coach.
Honestly I would not want to take kids with disciplinary issue as I don't want to risk losing the rest over this kid.
Alternatively you can hv him in private class -

Will do that. Thanks Jeff!
Welcome!
Hi,swimironkids:
Anybody know if Swimfast has competitive swimming classes in the East?
My boy is in P1. He has been jumping into the pool whenever we brought him swimming, even before he learnt how to swim. He loves swimming and being in the pool. I started him on swimming classes (swim safer program) last year, he learnt freestyle, breaststroke, and perhaps also backstroke. However, the coach \"sacked\" him from the class as he got quite disruptive during the class (kept jumping into the pool when coach was guiding other students). I also heard that it's only in competitive swimming that they are taught proper strokes.
Is P1 too early to start on competitive swimming? My boy is very active and has loads of energy, he is also very mischievous, so I am considering starting him on some activity where he will learn to be disciplined.
Why dun you call swimfast personally to enquire
The number is 6472 4288 or email them at

Cheers
