I definitely want my DD to be happy wherever she goes. For some reasons, Nanyang girls are perceived to be academic focused and no fun by some primary sch kids. Thanks for sharing your DD's experience in lower sec. Sounds like they do a lot more than just study. One factor for us to consider is also the distance from home. If accept Cedar IP, must go VJC for yr 5&6. VJC is very far from where we live. At least 60-80mins per trip by public transport. Hwa Chong is much nearer.

It's a pity that NYGH lacks the diversity that Cedar has in terms of the variety of races and backgrounds of the students. Are the students in Nanyang mainly kids of rich parents?

For my girl, she feels that there are more friends from her pri sch going to Cedar than to Nanyang. To a 12 yr old, that matters, although I feel that she can make new friends easily in NYGH.

For sports CCA, do they only take in girls with some background of the sports in primary school? For example, softball team only take in members who are already softball players in primary schools.


Is Nanyang Girls ultra- competitive? My girl is considering between Nanyang and Cedar, both offered her under DSA. For Nanyang, she got it through the academic route while Cedar’s offer is for a CCA sport.

Which program is more stressful, the Nanyang- Hwa Chong IP program or the VCA program? My daughter offered both via DSA. Still thinking about which to put as first option. Any comments?

Can anyone share how are the students admitted to NYGH through DSA Sports are coping? I heard training is very tough and takes up a lot of days per week. This may leave no time for the students to do their studies. Some have to give up and go to other school due to stress from CCA and academic demands. Is that true?

Looking for private bus that goes from Bishan to VJC in the morning. Public transport takes more than an hour. My DD doing J1 at VJC. Please PM me if you know of any school bus doing this route.

The school’s materials for Chinese compo are very good. Prepared and published by their own teachers. It’s a step-by-step program from P3 to P6. I feel that there is no need to have tuition for Chinese compo.
