      Babychic:
      Thank you for your remarks.

Looks like the situation is not getting any better. After the 2nd day at school, which ended at about 9:30pm, my girl is not her usual self.

She didn't say anything from last night till now.......

When I checked on her, she teared and asked if it was possible to change a different school.

Oh dear..how can I help her???

I had called MOE and queried on transfer but they said MOE do not handle such matters and told me to contact the schools directly. Tried a few schools but no vacancies available.

Anyone here knows if there are any vacancies in the east zone?

      Much appreciated.
have you spoken to your dc's FT yet? please do so and i trust this is first step towards helping your dd settle in and recover from the unpleasant experience. i always tell my dd if someone says something unpleasant to her, just reply with, \"same to you!\". it does make her feel better most times.. seriously, please speak with her FT and some concern and attention from teachers will help your dd tremendously.

Thanks buds. Anyone knows anything about getting a transfer for secondary school?....

I am so worried because my girl came back first day from school and told me she and some other girls were addressed as bitches from one of the boys!!

Guessed she freaked out. She ended sleeping next to me last night.....

      Oh dear!!!!

That's a terrible and definitely unpleasant experience on the first day of school. šŸ˜ž

I don't know if MOE will entertain a transfer request when the closing date is already past. Alternatively, could you speak to your daughter's new form teacher and see if something can be done in the school? It would be a shame to write off the school (which may be fine overall) just because of one offensive boy. If he is also a Sec 1 kid, he probably does not represent all kids in the school.

Babychic, it is unfortunate for your dd to experience that on 1st day of school. Today is 2nd day, is the situation better i hope? i don't know the details of the incident but if it's just a mischievous boy saying that and he's not directing at your dd alone you may wish to consider to just help your dd get over this.. of coz talk to the teacher so the boy gets the deserved warning or punishment but i think such things do happen whether it's co-ed or girls' school. we never know where the black sheep are.. i feel for u and hope your dd is recovering from the shock.. sorry i don't have advice re school transfer but i guess if you bring it to your dc's teacher he/she will advise accordingly, or more likely, he/she will \"skin\" that naughty boy and ask your dd to stay..

seem like many parents are concerned by why a school's cop went up or drop by a mere 1 or 2 points... :imcool:

to rephrase, it's more like many parents are unhappy about the increase in COP in many schools even though overall PSLE t score is lower, small size cohort and easier papers..

That's the problem, there is 50-50 chance.

The book store and uniform at the allocated school only open till 30th Dec. If appeal not successful, I got no time to purchase the books and uniform, and the school open on 2 Jan...
like zeemimi said, appealing is a waiting game. give it a try so you have no regrets but be prepared to wait... it is not unheard of to wait till first week Jan after school reopens to know that your appeal results. some parents ended with 2 sets of uniforms (2 different schools), i.e., if successful.. oh well price to pay and time for wait but worth it if you get to your desired school!

Both st nick and cedar are very good schools, just that different people have different preference. For some reason, things become personal as the thread progresses, like every other thread.

Everyone is entitled to his preference and opinion. Most people would think hci is a top school but I may have a different opinion about it based on my own personal experience, based on just one person.

Let's not take the discussion so personally. I am very sure none of us meant any harm to the school we do not take to.
i totally agree with u rains! sngs or cedar, both are very good schools. i would be so proud of my dd if she can do well enough to get into either! we all have different opinions and that's how we learn more, isn't it? that's why we are in the forum to learn things we are not aware of.. no one is perfect, what's more about a school which is a complex organisation? yes don't take it personally, we have more things ahead to worry about.. school reopens, CNY spring cleaning, shopping, etc. etc.. šŸ˜‰

Deadline for choosing is 28th Nov.

      Posting results is 20th Dec.

      Why so many days apart?

Computerised system still can't cope with the cohort size?

I was wondering about that too :?

I wonder if MOE needs meeting after meeting to determine number of places for each school etc,? I also wonder what's taking them so long.. After submission of S1 option form end Nov, should ideally take max. 2 weeks to release posting results like mid-Dec. Then it gives more time for the appeal process, less stress for parents less rush for schools. I had the appeal forms and docs all ready for submission before posting results release but later decided not to appeal after all. I'm so glad one less thing to do, less stress.. Indeed P6 has been stressful year for many parents and kids we don't need more stress with waiting of appeal results etc.. But for those who are appealing, give it a shot, nothing much to lose, and all the best!

Tomorrow should wear primary school uniform to sec 1 registration?

What if the child has outgrown the uniform?
Yes just wear primary school uniform.. so tomorrow will be very colourful with different school uniforms.. šŸ˜‚
your child outgrew the uniform already? must be eating and sleeping a lot.. šŸ˜‚ joke aside, i suggest that you try perhaps PE t-shirt if the blouse/shirt is really too tight. It's only a few hours, try to bear with discomfort even if a bit tight..

2014 Sec 1 Booklist and Stationery list is out on the school's website. You can print it out to calculate how much it cost, decide on the necessary and strike out the unnecessary items so that it will not be a mad rush on reporting day.

If you can, do head to Bibi & Baba at Far East shopping centre to purchase your uniform so that you need not queue for uniform fitting on reporting day as well.
My dd is posted to GESS and this is really good timely info, thank you august24!
