      :thankyou: are they top school papers (eg nanyang, rgs) or normal schools? i prefer not letting my dd do the nanyang papers as they aren't a good benchmark and some questions (esp Math) is not in the syllabus.

      Here are the schools for Maths. Sorry, total should be 11 schools for Maths.
      ACS
      Hokkien 5S
      Nanyang
      Red Swastika
      Pei Chun
      SCGS
      Temasek
      Pei Hwa
      Christian Brothers
      Raffles Girls
      Methodist Girls

      Other than Nanyang and RGPS, do you consider the other schools above as normal schools?

      :thankyou: There are some other top schools, however, i find that Nanyang and RGPS papers are the toughest. šŸ˜‰

      hi, could someone help me with this question?

      A bus set off from the airport at 10.15 am and took 3 hours to reach the hotel.
      A car set off from the airport at 10.30 am and took 2 hours to reach the hotel.
      At what time did the car catch up with the bus?

      Hi thehybrid,

      At 10.30 am,

      Bus is already 15/180 = 1/12 of the journey ahead.
      Catch up distance-> 1/12 of distance
      Speed of bus->1/3 of distance per hour
      Speed of car->1/2 of distance per hour
      Catch up speed -> 1/2-1/3 = 1/6 per hour

      Catch up time-> 1/12 divide by 1/6 = 1/2 h
      So 10.30 am --> +1/2 h --> 11.00 am

      Hope that helps.

      :thankyou:

      Hi parents, how much work (past year papers/assessment books) is your child doing a day/week?

      It can one of the following. Lets say for math.

      One full paper on alternate days (for going through the motion of completing a complete set)
      or paper1 n 2 on alternate day (if have less time n just want the child to focus on one paper at a time.)
      or just working on selected questions. Heuristic or direct questions?

      I suggest to not focus on just doing \"how many\" papers, but also work on what you want to evaluate at the end of the practice.

      is it to catch carless mistakes?
      or is it to practice on time management?
      or is it to gain confidence that one can complete a full paper?
      or is it to just work on selected questions which your child is weak at?
      or is it just simply for your child to go through the motion before the big game?

      know what you want to get out of the daily practice so that it is more effective.
      N in a way, u can evaluate n discuss with your child based on the outcome n objecive of that particular practice.

      I feel this strategy applies to any subject too. šŸ™‚

      John

      :thankyou: I found it really helpful. šŸ˜„ šŸ˜‚ :goodpost:

      May i know how many papers are in the set? šŸ˜„

      Each subject is about 8-10 schools. In the Chinese set, we found 2 papers for Higer Chinese too.[/quote] :thankyou: are they top school papers (eg nanyang, rgs) or normal schools? i prefer not letting my dd do the nanyang papers as they aren't a good benchmark and some questions (esp Math) is not in the syllabus.

      hi could you help me with these 2 questions? (MGS 2012 Paper 1)

      2.4 + 3 x 2.4+12 - 2.4 x4 =2.4x [ ]
      Fill the correct answer in the box

      4=4
      4x4=16
      4x4x4=64
      4x4x4x4=256
      what is the digit in the ones place of a multiplication string of 12 fours?
      Thanks.

      Hi thehybrid,

      1) We look at how many times of 2.4 there are in the question.
      1+3+5-4=5
      (Take note that 12 = 5 X 2.4)
      So answer is 5.

      2) This is a pattern question. Odd number of 4-> end with 4
      Even number of 4-> end with 6.
      So answer is 6.

      Hope that helps.

      :thankyou:
