here’s Faith Montessori, Eton Schoolhouse etc.

If you wish to go a bit further, there’s PATS SCHOOLHOUSE and Chiltern Schoolhouse in Halifax Road (behind KK Hospital).

In fact there are quite a no. of foreigners attending PAT’s Halifax so you might want to make an appmt with the principal.

well… previously i was thinking on the ez way out… juz enrol her in Kellock. I was in CHIJ for 10 years … i wld personally feel the stress is not as much as the top schools in the need to perform academically. in fact, they emphasised on values. but somehow in this competitive environment, the need for social networking is also a part of life. i hv secondary school girls & friends telling me social networking is impt and thus the need to send kids to a good school. i do agree to a certain extent but i didn’t want to end up stressing on balloting. so … somehow i gonna figure this out on my own

hope i’m not too late on my comments on PAT’s Schoolhouse.
my gal is currently in PATS Halifax and has been there since playgroup.
b4 choosing PATS, being the lazy me only went to Lorna Winston for a view. Didn’t like the location cos its too deep in and taking schoolbus is out for her at this young age. I didn’t went into details like curriculum etc with the principal at PATS cos i chose it for the location - ez to fetch her to/from school for logistical reasons
My gal was v shy & timid and she took a full year to get used to school. Even by Dec she was crying by the time she is anywhere near the school.
i contemplated changing school, thinking it was suitable for her plus she’s always falling sick (every 3 weeks on avg). Went to see a montessori near my place but didn’t like their teaching mtd. And thinking of the trauma of adapting for her again is something i don’t even wanna think abt.

Me in my ignorance, had placed the blame of her falling sick etc on the school but when i actually open my eyes n ears thru what i saw & feedback fm other friends, i realise i was being too narrow-minded.

During her nursery year (2nd year), we hv seen a change in her.
She’s grown more confident (tho still shy), fantastic articulation (for a 4yr old) and great imagination & creativity (tons betta than me).

The school principal actually know all (or most) of the students’ names, so does most of the teachers. We can comunicate with the teachers thru SMS or phonecalls (which i try to aviod unless a v big issue) . There is so much personal touch that i felt very safe having my girl there.

And she’s actually looking forward to starting her K1 class this week.
Frankly, i couldn’t ask for more…

no, i wouldn't go to such an extreme to move house to be near a school.
i just wanna enter her into a good school where she can perform under peer pressure as her character is as such. but lazy me didn't want to do volunteer work(am working) and didn;t wanna feel guilty depriving her of good teachers & study environment.
thanks for yr info cos i also did not want her to feel deprive of material things just cos her classmates hv it and neither do i want her to turn out to be a snooty gal :roll:

i'm at a dilemna on which school to send my gal.
I live w/i 2km of MGS but i can be enrolled under old girls in KC.
Distance-wise, i can be at MGS w/i 10 mins drive whereas KC will take me approx 20 mins or more.
Results-wise, MGS has been known to generate top students whereas i can get her into KC w/o any stress for me eg.. volunteer work etc (i'm a working mum) or her.
I was told by many that MGS is attended by rich kids ? Just because of their address or its known to be as such ? Could it be a generalisation ?
