While we parents say we prepare ourselves for the worst, sometimes some emotions just can’t be helped. I recalled on PSLE day itself years back, the discipline master came up to me prior to the announcement and said “your girls did well”…… it sounded good right but at that moment I looked at my hubs and my thoughts were “why well only? Why not very well? Why not excellent? Did they underperform?”. Such thoughts were really racing through my head and I told my hubs “ok let’s brace ourselves up for the unexpected results”….
Same... I had many thoughts on the day... Normal for everyone right?? 😓

Desperate mum here, but i am looking for an English tuition for my p4 and p2 boys at Ang Mo Kio? Thanks
Kent ridge has a branch at Amy hub. Or Alternative Story at Jubilee sq and Djutsun mall. If you are lucky you can get sibling slots so you can save a trip.

Just a couple of suggestions that you (or anyone with kids who are having difficulties with sentences) could try at home:
- try to speak complete sentences in one language, without mixing. The kids will then be able to compose complete sentences for compo purposes.
- read aloud to your kids from storybooks, and get them to read aloud as well. They will then learn the rhythms of the language, and also learn how to use complete sentences, and widen their vocab. Even if they are now older, do some reading aloud - from newspaper articles, snatches of books/articles you think might interest them, etc.
- get kids to do \"leisure writing\" - anything that they want, and not school compos! Letters, diaries, instruction manuals for some game, their own stories. Just getting the practice writing is good, and working on school compos will be easier (but of course more boring, but what to do?)

These are tried and true methods used on my own kids who are both grown-up now.

Thank you so much for this detailed reply! I will forward this to my friends with younger children!! They would love it too!!

For me it was a few years back and I switched between a private home tutor for the personal attention at the start.. and centre (TAS) once my child was more independent.. I did try reading lots of storybooks aloud too! I think my own english improved after that 😂
I was just discussing this with some of the helpful members in a different link.. The classes help to build their confidence in writing stories and also the grammar and comprehension parts of written exercises.

My workplace also suggested we keep our masks on during meetings. Not actively enforced but there does seem to be a bug going around… Or maybe it is XBB. Stay safe and healthy all students taking major exams!!

Hi! Any of your kiddos under teacher phoebe? Any feedback?
She is okay! Some kids may find her strict but if you are like me you may prefer that.. 😂

Just stating facts....they may be wearing but it's a choice. So not compulsory. So ofcos can take off if its uncomfortable....
It is possible to state facts without being rude..

I hope this infographic is self-explanatory (only those scoring in the “option band” of AL21-22 get to choose between NA or Express):
https://i.imgur.com/58w6uF3.jpg\">

It was mentioned in ACS Br principal’s talk for affiliates, that those scoring in the AL21-22 range are advised to pick NA stream for a guaranteed seat, versus Express stream at which he may be at risk of being balloted out:
https://i.imgur.com/JEZh3Y2.jpg\">

If he scores AL20, based on past historical numbers for ACS Br, will be assigned to Express by default & guaranteed seat.

The AL21-22 have more headache.

**Please double-check with your affiliated secondary if it’s a different school.

All the best for PSLE. Hope our kids clear the bar safely.
Thank you for sharing. This is so useful!!

• RE: How to study hard and still enjoy childhood/teens years

My ideal answer to the question is that the child enjoys studying hard. Therefore studying is enjoying. That was my fat hope haha! Every child is different so we have to go with who they are too…

I find myself asking this question about myself even as I grow older. Working hard but still enjoying life and family as I grow more white hair… Never lose sight of what is important!
