Security issues with Zoom is in the news now.
Zoom technology not safe, there was cyber hacking.
Hackers hack into zoom online classroom
One school teacher was teaching her students half way online, suddenly got messages coming in to interupt them

In fact, MOE/ Schools should purchase Skype or Webex licence for their teachers to use. Do not use those free version. -
RE: Lessons at home!
I just purchased the PDF editor. There is a promotion and it is only $8.70 now.

After the end of HBL, I think our IT knowledge will improve leaps and bounds. -

I believe many of the teachers do not even know that they are not supposed to assign homework/ worksheet in PDF format. Unless we purchase the PDF edit licence, students are unable to save the work. Answers are gone when they re-open the PDF worksheet.
Alternatively, the kid needs to copy and paste the questions in Microsoft word, then type their answers there in Microsoft word and not those PDF files. Parents must be there to help otherwise how we expect the little ones to be able to do it on their own.
Just do hard copy printout of the worksheets and activity books is the best. Problems solved and save on electricity too. -

Different teachers are using different online platforms and not easy for primary school kids. Parents WFH become technical support taking up too much of our time to help them figure out how to use. Some work done and saved are gone when re-opening the files and the children need to re-do them. Some of kids’ parents are part of essential services and still working on site. Caregivers are not technical savvy so they panic and keep texting their classmates. Preventing the same issues, we even need to take snap shots as backup. It is very tedious. Just do activity books and worksheets are good enough.
Admittedly, schools & various subject teachers should try and stick to a single form of LMS. In that way, it'll be a one-stop station for all of the student's online learning.tryyourbest.2\" post_id=\"1970426\" time=\"1586319306\" user_id=\"184963:
Actually why MOE/ schools can’t just let the students do activity books and worksheets?
When completed, students can just scan and email to the Teachers. This way is the easiest. Don’t even need what SLS, google classroom etc...
On a few days that Teachers may need to conduct lessons, then they can setup Zoom or Skype invitation, all other activities can just go offline.https://i.imgur.com/NaJ61iZ.png\">
Learning Management System makes things more systematic and organized in the long run, thanks to the various functionalities allowing educators to
- disseminate information via logged posts (+ automated notification of new posts/uploads),
- communicate with students/parents (via forum, posts and private comments),
- engage students through various types of assignments (such as MCQ quizzes that can be auto-graded or OE style questions which may lead to further discussions),https://i.imgur.com/46VoqCP.jpg\">
- host files and documents,
- keep track of homework submissions (+ automated reminder when homework is due),
- record gradeshttps://i.imgur.com/y1aXKZ7.jpg\">
Some even have video embedding/recording options incorporated, reducing the need to direct students to external links or relying on other online platforms to record + download and then upload audio files.https://i.imgur.com/1vXDgoY.jpg\">

Can imagine how tough it is for those children with special needs.
they often hire special needs' trained tutor to go to their house, or their parents bring them to tutor's house, for private tuition one to one. This part, the blanket-sweep-law should allow empathy, because for these parents struggling, whether in peace time or covid-time, their special need child still need 1 to 1 private tutor
can read this article, how during these tiring, stressful covid period,
there are many parents in Hongkong, who are struggling with special need children.

RE: Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Updates
Now confirmed strictly no face-to-face tuition. If tutor and parent still pretend not knowing anything, I wonder who will be the one facing the law? Tutor or parents?
A few of friends’ children tutors still keeping quiet about it and lessons are scheduled over the next few days. I am not sure what makes these people still think it is ok. My goodness! -
RE: Tuition centers should not force parents to accept digital learning at full fees.
Some tuition centres claimed that they still need to pay rent to landlord so they still need to charge parents at 100% for e-tutoring. No discount at all. This is ridiculous.

Agree. A good tutor shld put his/her interests wrt safety before the tuition job.
Circuit breaker measures include stop such private meetings too. Yes, the risk exists6thisnthat9\" post_id=\"1970015\" time=\"1586081524\" user_id=\"145858:
My husband insisted that private home tuition should be suspended too.
He commented that as private tutors hop around from one house to another, it is very risky.
Our second and eldest children have private tuition for Math by a current school teacher. Apparently, this teacher has many private tutees and not sure if my husband think too much, he is worried some students‘ house may have someone who is unwell or even serving SHN. Being an educator, my husband felt that the tutor should initiate suspending the tuition or conduct lesson via video conferencing but he did not.
Did any of your kid try math tuition by video conferencing? Is it effective?
It never come across to me that private tuition has its risk too till the old man in the house suddenly brought up the topic.
A good tutor will make an effort to learn to use technology to reach out to tutees or work extra hard to prepare materials to ensure tutees will not fall behind or hv idle time to slide in learning.
DS’s tutor was really kind trying to give extra session to do trial run to ensure connection works & iron out kinks. To top it, he offered 50% discount. We were very touched. We negotiate that it shld not reduce & we were very appreciative alr that there is continuity for his learning.
Estéema, this is really very nice of your DS’s tutor. I think most of them will just wait for parents to initiate.
