    • RE: Any Chinese Physician to recommend? :)

According to a TCM I've consulted before, thyroid nodules are accumulations of mucus/phlegm. Hypothyroid people have lower metabolic rate so mucus/phlegm doesn't get cleared at the rate it does in a normal person. As a result, mucus/phlegm moves up -- to the lungs (cough) > throat (cough/phlegm > neck (nodules; usually soft). I'm hypothyroid and had nodules (biggest was an inch in diameter) before I started on thyroid med. Took phlegm-dissolving TCM med (http://www.tongjumchew.com.sg/products/ ... sp?pid=NDI) and they went way.

If you do get tested for thyroid problems again, ask for Free T3 test as well. TSH is a poor indicator of thyroid health.

    • RE: Private schools for retaking Os

Anyone know of a school for those wanting to retake O Levels? My kid failed all his Sec 4 exams in 2013 so we’re not hopeful. Would be happy if he can pass English and get into ITE. Bright but super-lazy so won’t be able to study on his own (tutors didn’t help either); zero interest in anything that requires effort or is outside the curriculum. Lots of discipline problems too but the mother refuses to send him for counselling. Thanks for any help.

    • RE: Flat Feet Problem

Wah! Can actually see the arch now. What treatment did she do? Massage? Had thought treatment was only effective for young children. My son (almost 15, size 10 shoes) has flat feet. Doesn’t bother him much except when he has Nafas tests and goes inline skating. My nephews said those with flat feet suffer more in NS, when they have to march/trek/stand still for long hours.

My son has flat feet too. We didn't know till he complained about pain in his knees after Nafas run. Surfed the net and came up with this of footwear (for boys and guys, I think) suitable for people with low arch and flat feet.

    • RE: Ang Mo Kio Secondary School

      underthesea:
My son is Sec2 this year. He is not very happy with the school this year, always come back with a lot of complaints about his teachers. He hates his Arts teacher (in face the whole class hated her)!

Personally, I don't really find the teachers are caring, not much communication between teacher-parents except the annual PTC. My son's result is average, may be that's the reason. He is neither here nor there, therefore not much attention given.
Oh! That woman! HOD, right? Serious menopausal nutcase. Make students redo, rework, reshape their artwork to her very specific requirements, call parents to bitch about their kids. The other teachers know she's a problem but don't do anything about it other than make sympathetic noises to parents.

Yes, school-parent communication is pretty weak. Always get forms, etc at the last minute. Heard the new principal doesn't even speak at assembly.

    • RE: All About Inline Skating/Roller Blading

Ya the Skateline coaches are good. My son learned how to skate there and is now an SAV (skate assist volunteer, I think). Used to join them on their monthly night skates but hasn’t done that lately. Now at a stage where he uses the brakeless skates.
