    • RE: mobile app for easy communication with parents & teachers

Why not set up a little notice board at home? One made of cardboard, cork or a small slate / black board. It would train the children to be organised and would also be helpful for the adults in the family as well.

A good place would be near the shoe rack or main door. The young ones would get reminded of any forms, requests, notice etc. when they just pass by them.

Just one sweet and pleasant side effect though…, they might keep alerting you if their favourite activity is coming up.

    • RE: Recommendation for a basic programming class

Is there really a market for this? As a programmer (C#.NET, ASP.NET, XNA Game (XBOX)) myself, I can tell you that there are no IDEs (integrated development environment) out there that is designed for kids.

For those who might not know what an IDE is, it is basically a software that is used to make other software.

Its really difficult to even come up with one. Even NetBeans (which has the best customisable interface in my opinion) is too complex for a 12 year old. A scaled down, kid version would eventually be scripting and it better be a really good one that mimics the actual programming scenario.
