    • RE: Hotel Booking Websites

Now I use Trivago to compare but also look out for sites that is not covered by them like Agoda.

Equally important is to check with hotel directly for rates.

    • RE: Where to buy travel insurance?

I don’t trust the insurance provided by the credit card.

As floppy says, it is insufficient.

Better to buy your own and read the clause carefully.

    • RE: Which Country Suitable For Young Children?

I read some post and filled with envy.

I no longer can afford to go to places like Taiwan or Japan.

Now I can afford to go Philippines and Thailand for my kids holidays.

    • RE: Is Groupon a scam?

Groupon is not a scam but beware of what you buy.

I will not buy tour packages or airline tickets from them.

When you buy a cheap ticket and try to redeem from the tour agent, they always say your preferred date is not available and must top up.

      Really crap.

    • RE: Which Saving Accounts Give Best Interest?

For me, i have given up on such plans.

For OCBC 360, you have to do so many things to earn that interest like charge to card, credit salary etc.

It is good if you are discipline but I do not have so much money to charge to my card!

    • RE: Fixed Deposit Promotion

Bank of China sometimes do give attractive FD rates and sometimes even short tenure like 9 months.

It is good for those that may need not need long tenure like 12 months or 24 months.

    • RE: Car insurance from directasia.com

For me, always do comparison among few insurance companies and buy the one that suits you most.

My friend has his car insured recently and save about $130 when he jump to another company.

He just get an agent to quote and the agent return with 5 quotes from different companies and he choose the cheapest one.

Again reminder. Compare and buy the one that you are most comfortable with.

    • RE: Which is your preferred Kids Savings Account?

Else just buy them an insurance policy that will be in force even after the parent pass away.

No, I am not kidding. I also just happen to know about such a policy from my spouse.

The policy is in force until the parent birthday reach 99 years old even after the parent pass away.

This plan is good if you have spare cash and wanted to leave something for your kid.

    • RE: How to feel richer as you age

One will really need to understand the product before you buy.

Companies are setup to earn money and I cannot blame them. If you set up a company, I believe your main objective is to earn money and to provide a better life to your family?

There are all sorts of plans in the market so study them carefully before you jump into it.

    • RE: Advice on Savings Plans

There is a investment plan that gives around 5% return every year.

However since it is an investment plan, the principal is not guaranteed. However based on the fund history, it looks quite stable or I could say it is the safest among all the funds I have saw from the company.

For example, I have invested about 50k myself and the return is about 2.4K per year. This will depends on the number of fund units you are allocated to and the dividends per unit that is allocated.

The fees that you paid is one time during purchase of the fund.

I am a low risk taker but putting inside the bank is really pathetic. So decided to take a little risk and see how it goes.

There are pro and cons for any plan by any companies be it insurance or investment. It just depends on each comfort level.
