River Valley only dropped 2 points. Last year COP was 251, not 256. 😄

I called school admin and know the COP for the following schools:

      HCI 256
      River Valley 249
      ACSI O Level 247
ACSI IB will be known only in the afternoon. Wondering why?

I also find Jennifer's posts very useful. In fact, it was after reading her warning post on Ms Teo that I checked with my son and confirmed that as his Science teacher last year, she had taught his class quite a few wrong Science concepts. I was quite upset but by then it was too late cos already after SA2.

Hence sometimes it is not that we parents want to shame the teachers, but if for so many years the teacher(s) still remains(s) the same without improving, then we parents have no choice but to share frankly even on public forum like this.

I believe that all of us appreciate the generous sharing of all Pei Hwa parents, whether ex-, current or going-to-be. Sometimes misunderstanding or unhappiness arise due to wrong choice of words. Some of us are more cyber savvy than the others. Some of us are more potato while some are more helicopter. Some are more 心直口快 while some are more 小心翼翼。Whoever/whatever we are, I believe that we are all genuine concerned parents with no malicious intention, so let us give each other more allowance, chill and move on lah. Don't show any :imanisland: good-byes ok? In fact I think it says alot on the generosity and unselfishness of the \"parent alumni\" (Jennifer, Janet, FQW, etc) when they no longer have a stake in the School and yet still care enough to come back to share.

It would be good if the school can provide update to parents, but sad to say, based on my experience for the past five years, Pei Hwa does not communicate with parents. Many important updates/happening I actually have to find out from the grapevine (other parents while waiting at the back gate) and this forum. There is no formal, proper channel other than the annual PTM in March. I would think it is a very basic and necessary need for the School to hold parental briefing for the respective levels at least once a year at the beginning of the year. However, for last year, there was no parental briefing for P1 parents although the Principal specifically said at the orientation briefing that there would be one later in the year. Looking at this year's school calendar, there is no briefing again for the P2 level even though this is an important year - the streaming year.

I understand that for many other schools, branded or not, the respective principals will meet up with parents at least once a year to update them on what to expect for the oncoming new year for the respective level. Some schools even publish periodic newsletter from the principal as a form of communication with parents, or help to organize parental networking sessions. In Pei Hwa's case, even a very basic formal information channel - school website - was \"under construction\" for almost one whole year last year.

In short, Pei Hwa parents have to work very hard to gather information. :yikes:

    • RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary

I have three children currently attending Pei Hwa. I had the opportunity to read the email before it was deleted, and while I agree that it is probably not wise to post the entire email (being private in nature) onto this public forum, the information shared is nevertheless still relevant and worrying. Especially so when my youngest child is also in Primary two this year. I checked with my girl and she confirmed that on Feb 14, three children from Respect 9 were sent to her class. I just hope that the school will handle this feedback swiftly and come out with appropriate measures. Seems like the staff deployment has gone from bad to worse. During my sons' time, their P1 and P2 classes had experienced being left alone unsupervised for an entire period with no teacher a few times. Now, it's an entire class with no teacher for the whole day!

This is my first post on this thread, and sorry that it has to be a brickbat. 😓

Just to share, my dd who is K1 this year, went for assessment and comments from the assessor was about the same as your ds - knows her first sounds and last sounds, not sure about middle sounds and knows limited sight words. She was put to Launchpad class. She has since attended 3 lessons and is progressing well according to the teacher. If you find Foundation too simple for your ds and has confidence he can handle Launchpad, think it’s worth it to talk to the Centre again. From what I see, Launchpad workbook 1 and 2 are pretty simple - identify and colour pictures with similar sounds (mostly first or last, some middle), and practise alphabet writing.

I think if the child is put to a class that is too simple for him, it just wastes time and money. Just my humble opinion.
