check with hokkien dictionary ?

\"hao tai\" does sound like a hokkien word which my grandfather used to scold me & my siblings when we were small, for being.. well.. stupid (not that we were, but in his eyes lah!).

why does strparent call the GEPpers \"stupid\"? thot this should be the last word one would use to describe the GEPpers?! :scratchhead:

I interprete the same meaning as you, ie stupid.. I thought this word will only apply me..... from my mum..... 😉
I think \"hao dai\" sounds more correct. :siam:

    • RE: TUTORS CHOOSING STUDENTS TO TEACH

well…it is not mainly the academic results of the school teacher, but the character and personality as well. I simply dont understand, being an adult, would ransack someone’s cupboard and not only this, at times when i have to be overseas, the lessons were conducted at my mum’s place, and she did the same thing, when my mum taking the nap, she again ransack her cupboard, she can even just took the pork floss and eat it. Sometimes there were packets of titbits where friends or relatives bought from overseas, she just simply take and eat (even it is brand new packet, without asking for permission).

Another case of a primary school teacher, who is my neighbour, every morning, you can hear her voice shouting for her son to hurry up (at 6.30am). i am staying 2 doors away from hers, and i will be waken up by her voice. and many times i met her at the lift, i smile at her, she look away… and worst of all… many times when i was back and when the lift reached our floor, i cant come out of the lift, bcos she will be standing right at the middle of the door and not even waiting for ppl to come out first becos she tried to squeeze in (and many times, her husband had to tell her "let ppl come out first").

Teachers are to teach, not only in acedemic but also being a role model… but with teachers like this…

Never knew tutors could be so daring.

Vanilla mum, you're a very tolerant person. :salute:
haha! bcos dd1 hving PSLE and most parent have the perception that sch teacher can teach better, which now I realize might not be true!

      Thank you, Bocmark.

DS has accepted the rejection and back to studying for his prelims. In fact, though I wanted to throw away the rejection letters, he wanted to keep them to remind himself that he had to work harder for PSLE!

thats great! he is not as pampered as u thought, he has grown up! jia you! he will make it to his dream school!

I don't think teachers should be choosing students.

the child obviously needs help in a certain area, thats why they need the teacher.

it should be about helping the child, not about boosting the teacher's ego

I had a tutor who is a primary school teacher, she was very good initially (bcos i am at home) and i tot she has been teaching well, i let her changed her schedules to come in the afternoon when my girls are back from school (i am not back from work yet). Then.. she started to:

      1) first thing entering my house, open my titbits cupboard and ransack for food... if nothing nice, she will ask my girls to buy

      2) if she finds something that she likes, she finished the whole packet (even if it is a new packet, and if she cant finish them, she will pack and go)

      3) after searching for food, she will go up to my bedroom to use the weighing scale, once i purposely brought it downstair and told her that it is to save her hassle of going up every time, she thanked me

      4) she shouted and scream at my girls when they do not understand what she had explain (even my neighbour can hear it)

      5) increased the tuition fees twice in once year

she is giving tuition to my two girls, one in P4 (dd2) and one in P6 (dd1). dd1 is very independent and fast learner where else dd2 is the lazy one. And she kept asking dd1 why dd2 is so stupid (infront of dd2) and tell my dd1 that dd2 is so diffcult to teach and yet i am paying her so little ($40/hr).

After the June holiday, she told me that her school activities has changed and therefore only left with a slot for one student (my girls having tuition separately, back to back). she think that i will choose to let dd1 to continue with tuition bcos she is having PSLE (that was what she was wishing bcos dd1 is easier to teach), so i asked her if possible to have lessons on weekends (where she initially said that she will give dd1 lessons on weekends bcos of PSLE), she said \"no, weekends are my off day\".

In the end, i terminated her. she is such an iresponsible tutor / teacher...
