It is better to go organic when taking raw veg and juices/smoothies. Definitely makes all the difference in taste and nutrients, sans pesticides as well.

I totally agree! Anything eaten raw is best organic. You never know what chemicals etc have been sprayed on fruits and vege. I tried to buy non-organic grapes from fairprice once and realised that it smelled of pesticides urgh!! Really! You should just take a sniff at those grapes and you'd know, it's not only once, i tried a few times and always had the same result especially for grapes. so i gave up buying the non-organic ones 😞

My girl got 259+3, meet last year cop for njc & rv. Which is better? Njc or RV?

      Pls advise. Thanks
i heard from son's friends who went to njc, they say that life there is quite 'slack' compared to other IP schools such as raffles and nanyang. apparently, this is a known fact amongst most students. so i guess if your girl has self-discipline, njc is still ok but if she needs a 'kiasu' system to push her on, then maybe not

      At 267, should I choose ACS (I) or R (I)?

I would say the main difference lies in whether you're thinking of getting him into IB or A Levels ultimately. Therein lies the major difference. If you're thinking of A Levels, then I would suggest RI cos ACS is really stronger in their IB instead of A Levels compared to RI

My son's eczema truly started to recover when i changed his diet. gave him A LOT of raw vege and fruit juices and smoothies, at least 1-2 cups per day. it's the best natural remedy for eczema cos all skin issues need to start from 'cleaning up' the body as the breakouts are just a reflection of how 'dirty' the body is inside, thus causing the toxins to breakout of the skin like that. So start from the diet!!

      How old is your son?

I made him drink green smoothies regularly many years back when he around 9-10 years old, that was when his eczema was the worst, the patches covered his face, neck and upper body, with bits and pieces over his legs. but the healing process took quite long, so both parents and child has to be patient, after all, it's a natural remedy, not some steroid short cut.

it took about 2-3 months before everything is cleared up so he has to tolerate that quite a bit but we kept explaining to him the importance of not scratching and eventually things really worked out. I realised making kids drink fresh fruit juices (the kind you juice or blend yourself, not packet ones from supermarkets) really helps not just in eczema, his hyperactivity started to normalise too, i think too much refined sugar in previous diet.

vege juices are the best but they may not taste good for kids so mix it with fruits, then sneak in the vege, trust me they won't be able to taste the vege if blended or juiced with fruits.

oh he is currently 15 and the eczema has never returned since!

    • RE: Sec3 failure in subjects. Need help

      zbear:
I personally feel that a 1-1 tutor is more effective at Sec level unlike primary school. However, its definitely more costly and not everyone can afford.

i agree that small classes are much more effective for languages, u really need the tutor to have the chance to walk around and mark his essay and correct sentence structures, spelling etc. i send ds for a small english class of just 4-5 students and his eng results have really improved over the 2 years since i started him on the class. He is also sec 3 this year going sec 4 and has improved from B4 during his sec 1 end of year to A1 over the 2 years with the tutor so I'm quite thankful. plus languages need time i suppose, hard to see immediate improvement within weeks. unlike languages, I think maths and science can go for bigger group tuition, that's what my ds doing, not too expensive but still effective.

    • RE: Anyone recorded the audio for 2013 O Levels listening compre

Hi to parents or tutors or anyone who can help!

My ds is going sec 4 soon and yet his school has never done any listening compre with them ever! So I'm hoping to at least let him hear what was it like during this year's listening compre for O levels. I believe it was on 29 Oct broadcast on FM92.4. So if you recorded it or know anybody who did, please let me know 😄

      Thanks in advance!

    • RE: All About Dental

If anyone is looking for cheap but thorough dental checkup plus scale n polish, can go for the student-dentists attached at SGH. I went last month and found them to be extremely thorough cos they are supposed to analyse and examine your teeth and report the case to their supervisor (who is an experienced qualified dentist). Then this supervisor will come around to check if what they say is correct etc. Then the student will start scaling and polishing, and the supervisor will check at the end. Quite good for just $20.
