Hi MingKSP:
Yes, I have letter from the school on the LAMDA course too. I will let her join and take the exam but will not stress too much on the exam. Just let her enjoy the lessons and have fun with her friends.
I think there is a bit of a confusion here. The school is paying for the weekly S&D lesson (as stated in the letter). During the weekly S&D lesson, the trainers will also prepare the students for the LAMDA exam.
Seriously, if there is separate LAMDA training i would like my girl to go for them. However, if it's just $88 for taking an exam then I am not so keen, particularly so as the exam will be held during the June vacation and uncertainty over the exam schedule too.
Rgds,
Ming
Had written to lang arts ,and acc to them , your daughter could take the same exam as a private candidate in Nov when LAMDA here organises exams for independent pupils. For this you can contact LAMDA's Singapore representative, Simon O'Hara, at <lamdaexams>

Tx Firefly! Well the math teacher sounds awful. How can the school get away with it?Are we informed about such senseless descisions by teachers? And what does the principal say to all this?Where are we supposed to voice our concerns?? for such ridficulous acts?SA1 is the mid-year exams. RGPS does not have CAs, only 2 SAs a year. SA = Semestral Assessment.
It is true that teachers don't really teach in RGPS though I have to say that my girl's Eng and Math teachers last year were VERY good. Her Science teacher was quite hopeless and in P5, her Math teacher (another Math teacher) actually had a \"strike\" for a week as a punishment for the class as he found them noisy. And that happened just 2 weeks before her SA. -

My eldest said it's not allowed to celebrate in sch-no time to squeeze some fun in sch-can brg goodie bags but no food, cake etc to avoid any food allergies on some kids
.. but we used to get invites to Hard Rock Cafe, MCs, their home but some lucky gals were invited to Ritz Carlton Hotel for thier friends party almost every yr. . Bday parties are also time for parents to network. :P.
ritz carlton!!
DD bday coming up in March...so def not at the carlton!!
Will chk with teacheralso.
Have a good weekend -

Hi, if you can't wait for SA1... alternatively u can write in her handbook for her subject teachers email add & hp no. (u can try ur luck:)). Ask you DD to pass to form teacher to read. I have received 1 email add frm Ms Joyce Tan (mth tchr). Pending for the rest. I find its not parent-tchrs friendly here (sowie) unlike my SS1 pri sch (st. stephen) anytime anyday we are free to speak w the teachers or call them. I guess it's a diff sch values. And i kind of miss alot in RGPS (i had so much fun w my boy & his sch now that he's in Sec 1). But u can join the rgps pvg.. u kind of get some perks to be ard the sch more often than non-pvg:).
Tx,Siti
Will do that, coz I have seen some email ids in the timetable list. Was kind of unsure whether it was ok to write..
I somehow get the feeling that they are not v parent friendly, but hey I hope i'm proven wrong.
BTW,how are b'days celebratd in RGPS classrooms? treats allowed for classmates? -

Yes,it does..thanksVgb, better to send her an email to schedule a time. It's first week of school and the admin work would probably pile up from here.
There're 2 PTC after SA1 and SA2. Hope that helps! -
RE: Raffles Girls' Primary
Hi Siti: How do I get to meet the class teacher?(We did not get to meet her during the orientation day in Nov.)
Should I email her for an appt or wait for the parent teacher conf?
Would there be any more info sharing session by the school? Vaguely remember the principal mentioning that during the Nov session. -

Same problem here, anybody wonder why teachers dont write notes explaining,or are we supposed to figure it all out by ourselves? My girl had her spelling practice today too. But I do not see the spelling list meant for 7/1 and 14/1 among the whole stack of spelling lists she brings back today (earliest is 21/1). According to her, the spelling list for 7/1 and 14/1 has been handed over to teacher.
Is this the case for your girl too ? What is the usual practice ? What do the dates mean ? e.g. if the spelling list has the date 21/1, does it mean the list will be tested on 21/1 or the girl has to bring the list on 21/1 ?
Thanks !
Rgds,
Ming
