Hi Sitialawiya,
Firefly, is ur gal in p6 too?
Oh MY GOD ! getting jitters.. now that my dd is in p6. I am quite fearful. I noe it's juz a 2nd wk but she hasn't been getting as much exercises as my other friends in other schs. She juz told me yest that last yr p5 best class gotten all As and A* for P5 eng coz they did tons of mock exams. I've got feedback frm graduated parents of p6 last yr that GREAT attention given to GEP & Best class.. mainstream class DIY. her gal gotten 205 and now end up in neighbourhood sch in Yishun.
I am really curious how the mainstream classes did. What's the average aggregate. GEP classes are deemed to be top students but the majority are still the mainstream. They ought to be given equal treatment rite? *sigh*
No. My girl's in Sec 1 this year. Last year's aggregate was 23ish. Think it was 233 but not sure. Frankly, they didn't give the girls a lot of pressure last year but I heard it was because some parents complained that the kids were too stressed out the previous year. IMO, the number of enrichments classes your girl gets is dependent on her teachers. -
Please refer to my previous post.
Meant to say : Last year's AVERAGE aggregate was 23ish

For some its teach less, learn less and check out the rest yrself. Thats why its enrichment enrichment enrichment for my dd. ...nothing or little comes out frm the textbook... it only serve as a guide line..got to rely on outside resources.Hugs to you.
Yes, we were told that many children have tuition for all subjects. So poor thing for the children. -

Not just serving as a guide. I think it's also to make the publishers/bookstores share prices go high, higher and higher :x
That's why the syllabus for each subject is changed every few years. Most of the time, siblings more than 2 years apart can't use the same set of textbooks. :stupid: -

Tx Firefly! Well the math teacher sounds awful. How can the school get away with it?Are we informed about such senseless descisions by teachers? And what does the principal say to all this?Where are we supposed to voice our concerns?? for such ridficulous acts?SA1 is the mid-year exams. RGPS does not have CAs, only 2 SAs a year. SA = Semestral Assessment.
It is true that teachers don't really teach in RGPS though I have to say that my girl's Eng and Math teachers last year were VERY good. Her Science teacher was quite hopeless and in P5, her Math teacher (another Math teacher) actually had a \"strike\" for a week as a punishment for the class as he found them noisy. And that happened just 2 weeks before her SA. -

Yes me in clementi area but afternoon session... But I think quite early too
hello!
I am just curious to find out from Clementi what time does the school bus come for the afternoon session? How about the time to return to home by school bus? thanks. -

My girl would come home and complain about that Math teacher EVERYDAY till I got so tired of it that at one point, I stopped processing what she told me about that teacher (almost the same thing everyday - scolded us again, made us stand for the whole period..). I think I recalled her telling me something like that but I didn't know it was for a whole week until I met few of her classmates' parents. We didn't complain subsequently because after a while, you kind of know some teachers hardly teach anyway.

Heard that RGPS is going to move next year. At least for 2 years to upgrade the current premises. -

May I know how do you all get to know this ?
I am thinking of moving to somewhere nearer to RGPS to reduce my girl's daily travelling time from Sengkang to Bukit Timah. Thus whether the school will move to a temporary holding site will have an impact on the decision of my relocation.
Thanks

Wel, Siti is correct, the school practise the Teach less, learn more on our kids, similarly parents got to learn more thermselves about whats happening at school. If u are contemplating on moving to clementi then u should not have a problem wth distance in 2011, the holding school is where the NOL bldg is,, also used to accomodate St Andrews before.May I know how do you all get to know this ?
