That is exactly my sentiment! Schooling Must Be Impressed As An Interesting Journey......otherwise we can forget about talking/reminding our children on Achievement .

P1 pupils are basically still in their transitional stage from kindergarten education. From my experience with my kids when they were in P1, the cruciality & importance of examination was still beyond their comprehension then. However, I did noticed them being exposed with regular assessment/worksheets in class which I believed was an attempt by teachers to gradually instill knowledge to these pupils on the existence/importance of examination after pre school education.

First & foremost my sincere apologies to all (especially urbanemale) if I have unintentionally been giving wrong info on the abv issue. But this info was a clarification given to me (by a reliable source, supposedly) which I thought would be good to share to allay worries and anxiety of our parents. Moving forward, I sincerely hope all involving parties should exercise honesty when giving clarifications to us (parents) to avoid similar misunderstanding in the future.

Ultimately, the P together with her teachers have to ensure the sustainability of all achievements/success made thus far by the school. The least we can do is to show some sense of tolerance & faith to the school, trusting their ability & capacity to resolve their existing and impending issues, whatever they are for the benefits of our children.

Welcome on board. Yes, it was true Rulang had actually ‘lost’ two of its experienced teacher few years ago. One of them was Mr Low YF who was then RPS’ Mathematics Head (not Science actually). He had left Rulang following a promotion extended to him by MOE HQ and is currently still there. The other was Ms Ow who has left after shifting to her new place in Punggol. I believed this is a personal decision which the school has no right to deny ,especially considering that Ms Ow had a toddler girl whom was looked after by her parents who were residing around that area.
Besides, if you have been reading the PSLE’s result banner displayed outside the school’s gate for the past few years, you will notice that our pupils’ progress have been getting better by the years! That in itself speaks how well the school manages its pupils, despite the loss of some of their credible teachers, isn’t it?
Moving forward, continue to have faith & trust in our existing teachers who are equally diligent, compassionate & competent!

My youngest son had similar issue when he was in P1. He was by nature a cheerful chap but rather cautious when interacting with people whom were new to him . Most of the time, he would choose to sit quietly and mind his own business rather than getting into disagreement with peers. It came to a point when he started saying that "my life is sooo boring in school!"
I started with asking him about his classmates , whom he usually played with or spoke too and it came as a surprise that he only quoted 3 names after being in the same class for 4months! So when I asked him why…he simply said "most of my classmates were moody." With that I realised that my son may not be the only pupil who was having this issue.
I then made an appointment with the teacher to discuss on this issue.The form teacher was surprised to hear about this and promised me that she will look into the matter. Two days later, my son told me that his teacher had changed most of pupils’ seating arrangements (he was not aware of my meeting with the teacher actually). I asked how he felt about it? He said his partner on the right was very talkative, on the left was always laughing over simple joke and the one behind him is a teaser but not to the extend of being irritating.
Three weeks later, I pretended to ask about his classmates whom he usually played with and this time he quoted eleven names.He even described the games they played together. I came to comprehend the teacher’s motive in changing the seatings arrangement. She wanted my son and the rest of her pupils to blend in better with one another in a more proactive approach. Mixing the quiet ones with those who were more bubbly & daring. When forced into such situation, I believed the pupils instinct made them adopt a "if you can’t win them , you might as well join them".
I can assured you that my son has since been more vocal and cheerful where school matter is concerned. Perhaps you may approach the form teacher and speak to her about your son situation? Find out more about your son while he is in class and his interaction with peers, and so forth?

I am glad to be of help as being a mother of 3 kids myself , I have been there & done that(two of my kids have graduated very well from RPS in 2006 & 2009 respectively). My eldest is now doing her 1st year in ACS Ind for her IB while my younger boy is doing his Sec 2 edu at St Andrew. I am now left with my youngest boy who is in P5.

The anxiety and worries of affected parents are comprehensible and norm as being parents, our main concern will be the ultimate effects of all these changes may have on our kids’ education.

My advice to all parents in general is to not lose yr cool & faith towards RPS. Things / Changes happen for many reasons for many years infact, but we have to be level headed about it and should approach the school’s personnel to seek clarifications on the matters. If we are level headed, our kids will be able to move on ,otherwise they become equally panic & start feeling stressed out. So Keep Your Cool Always ya!

Hi everyone! Wish to share this latest info about HOD EL’s whereabout. I received clarification from the VP that Mr Bernard Chan is currently on work attachment for a period of time (6months or so) for the purpose of enhancing the school’s future academic programmes upon his return. As for the MT teacher, he has applied for study leave to do his Masters in CL and this request was submitted last year & approval was then given by MOE in Mar. Affirmation was given by VP that no other teacher are leaving the school as rumoured. As a matter of fact, there is no changes affecting all the remaining classes except the ones under Mr Bernard Chan & the MT teacher. Having said this, the teachers who took over the classes of these two respective teachers are equally competent & diligent. So the pupils remained to be in good hands…definitely! Hope this news will allay the undue anxiety of all parents who are affected. Rest assured…Rulang has a pool of impressively credible educators .
