I am surprised. He is a very good teacher. Who will be replacing him? -

Yes, I heard that Bernard Chan was a good teacher. No idea about who's replacing him. I received a letter from school yesterday that RL recruited some new teachers, and hence there are changes to all P3 classes ( MT). My DS had new teacher for Math, Sci and MT. Hopefully they can finish the syllabus in time. -
Hi Parents,
DS is in Pri 1. His FT informed him yesterday that he is one of those selected to attend the Math Workshop. They will not join their classmates in the hall. May I know what is this Math Workshop for students for? Thanks. -
Hi everyone! Wish to share this latest info about HOD EL’s whereabout. I received clarification from the VP that Mr Bernard Chan is currently on work attachment for a period of time (6months or so) for the purpose of enhancing the school’s future academic programmes upon his return. As for the MT teacher, he has applied for study leave to do his Masters in CL and this request was submitted last year & approval was then given by MOE in Mar. Affirmation was given by VP that no other teacher are leaving the school as rumoured. As a matter of fact, there is no changes affecting all the remaining classes except the ones under Mr Bernard Chan & the MT teacher. Having said this, the teachers who took over the classes of these two respective teachers are equally competent & diligent. So the pupils remained to be in good hands…definitely! Hope this news will allay the undue anxiety of all parents who are affected. Rest assured…Rulang has a pool of impressively credible educators .

Hello everyone!
I am glad to be of help as being a mother of 3 kids myself , I have been there & done that(two of my kids have graduated very well from RPS in 2006 & 2009 respectively). My eldest is now doing her 1st year in ACS Ind for her IB while my younger boy is doing his Sec 2 edu at St Andrew. I am now left with my youngest boy who is in P5.
The anxiety and worries of affected parents are comprehensible and norm as being parents, our main concern will be the ultimate effects of all these changes may have on our kids’ education.
My advice to all parents in general is to not lose yr cool & faith towards RPS. Things / Changes happen for many reasons for many years infact, but we have to be level headed about it and should approach the school’s personnel to seek clarifications on the matters. If we are level headed, our kids will be able to move on ,otherwise they become equally panic & start feeling stressed out. So Keep Your Cool Always ya! -
RRMummy:
Hi RRMummy,hshs:
Thank you RRMummy & cwc. I have been asking my son and he seems more confused than me. He has always been someone who doesnt express his real feelings. When my DD toks abt her sch - I have caught him saying \"it is also going to be MY school\" which actually shows he want to trf. But when I ask him directly, he shows reluctance. The main reason he cites is that he has no friend in RL. So pls note that actually he is not sad abt leavg his friends but he is more afraid of being alone.
He has been representing his school for external events / competitions but he has never expressed happiness in going for them reason being he is very afraid of losing. Everytime he comes home with a consent form he will pass it to me saying that actually he is not keen in going for it. And his reason is always \"What if I lose?\" I have tried umpteen times to reassure him that these things are not just for winning but good exposure for him but he is still the same.
I see your points hshs.. he seems keen to go too.. it does show that the only hurdle is the fear of loneliness.. which does not mean it is not important of course.. this is a very normal and real fear even for an adult. To leave a comfort zone can always be scary.. i know it twice in my life..
May I suggest this?
1. Sit down with him and write down every single pros and cons of staying and leaving you both can think off, don't screen anything out along the process.
2. Once it is all in black and white it is easier to go through the ideas one by one. In most instances, this process has helped me form a better judgement.
3. At the very least, it helps us clear or thoughts on what is we look forward for most..and finally to decide and accept that decision with a lot of future support from you and your family
JMHO.
Keep us posted ya.
I'm back. Thank you so much for your wonderful suggestion. We did try it out. But he came up with the cons while we came up with the pros cos we dun c eye to eye in this matter. As expected, our pros far surpassed his cons. So I gave him another choice and asked him to rate his points with a scale of 1-10 as to how important are the points he brought up and he gave the maximum rating. After pondering over it, at last we have decided. n the verdict is to keep him in his current school. :rahrah: we are juz afraid that the change might do him more harm than good.
