      ADave:
Updates for Westwood Pri: 251 SC within 1km fighting for 207 placings. Good luck parents!

Westgrove still have space for SC. So far only 82 SC applied for 103 vacancies. Jurong west primary too have space for SC.
Parents, go for school that still have vacancies for SC.. balloting is horrible.
\"touch wood\" if you are not successful in your ballot, Westgrove and JWPS are also full by end of P2C too.

Take advantage of the priority given to SC.. JMHO...

      smurftie:
      hi all

Thinking of registrating my son in JWPS for 2014 enrollment, i'm staying less than 1km from JWPS but i'll be thrown to phase 2C.
However i have an option to register him to Xingnan at phase 2A(1). Any advice to be given whether should i go for one school which just opposite me or go to one whereby no balloting required?
Also any advice on these two schools?
      Hi smurftie,

Based on my experience, go for school that is near to home. It's always more convenient and more savings in the long run. Just to share with you, my No.1 spends an average of 2 hours in the bus each day just to get to and from school, as the bus goes round the estate. He complains and grumbles, and the travelling made him tired everyday. My No.2 joining the school next year, hence decided to move within 2 minutes walking distance to school end of year. My No.1 jumped for joy when we told him we are moving near to school. We did thought of transferring him to school nearer home, but he refused. He loves his school.

To me, other than Rulang in JW area, the remaining schools in this area are about the same.

JWPS and Xingnan have their own niches..

In term of popularity, perhaps JWPS is more sought after based on the balloting history.

Of course, if you want a stress free P1 regn process, then go for the guaranteed Xingnan regn. You may subsequently move nearer school??

At the end of the day, I would again advise a long term convenience, ie go for school near home...my 2 cents.

Registered my girl in 2B at JWPS, wondering whether I should withdraw it and try luck in the 2C of WGPR? Any one can help to compare these two schools?

WGPR has been more popular than JWPS, right? Since they still have quite a lot seats for 2C, shall I give up JWPS to try WGPR? Headache now... :scratchhead:
Hi, just to share my 2 cents. In the first place, why did you go for JWPS, and now thinking of moving to WGPS? Popularity is one thing, but things can change. JWPS has also been \"full house\" for P2C in the past years, (well, except last year due to the entrance of Frontier that took off some burden in that area), but hard to say for this year. The school might be subjected to balloting in P2C too. Heard around that due to the availiability of the BASC in JWPS soon, it might regain her popularity.

In terms of academic, both schools are comparable. Looking at JWPS website, their top PSLE score was 273 whereas WGPS was about 267 (based on info contributed in PSLE thread for 2011). As for CCAs, you may also consider their achievements and strengths.

At the end of the day, it all depends on the child, both schools are I suppose are equally good.

Hi, wondering if Jurong West Primary be subjected to balloting this year? Look like quite high chance, with their good PSLE results last year and the almost completed upgrading. Heard that their BASC can take in 80 kids.
