My DS scored only 213. Can anyone recommend me which schools I should apply to? We are staying in the east. Thanks in advance.

Gosh, you are asking this at this time? Anyway, this is a thread that discusses school in the east http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=5381&start=10. Hope you find what you needed for your decision-making.

Asking on behalf of a friend. Any school to recommend for the west?

Hello Mummies, what do you think about Casco on Mathematics? Are they generally good? Do they provide detailed step-by-step solutions? Are they challenging?

Yes, Casco Mathematic do provide step-by-step solution.I have try buying that for my dd to try but she told me the question are not challenging.I still felt Andrew's Er one are better, they are more challenging.

If not, you can try onSponge Mathemtic, they do have step-by-step solution too.

I think for the Casco, they have from easy to challenging.

      Hi yukilei,

I think you were thinking of another parent...I didn't plan any holiday.

Gosh, can't imagine so much has happened this year 2012...madness put together is enough adventure for a while...next year, I need a break, mentally...but again, it won't be possible bcos my younger one in P3 needs that attention.
Can go for a short break. Recharge and work hard for Sec 1. I brought my kids to Legoland a few weeks ago. Was good for a one day trip.

By the way, I wonder why the parents of P6 students want to know about the stats since their children have already finished their exams and will be moving on to secondary school. It doesn't matter so much to them if the school doesn't do particularly well right? I would think that parents in other levels are more concern to know or parents in K2, looking to register their children into the school next year.
I guess as parent of P6, I would like to know how my child has performed relative to her cohort. That is, if she gets 78 and the highest is 85, then I would know why...
Secondly, some of us have more than 1 child. AS such, I would like to know how my child fared (in comparision) and how I can improve if there is a need for my other child.
That's my point. I find it more important for parents of children in other levels to know because then if the school doesn't do well then we can work with teachers to see how we can help our children. Or for eg if the school doesn't do well in Science, then we can get external help for Science.

      Hi tutor_ng,

Thanks for your advice...I certainly hope son will do well for math if it involves formula rather than concepts.
I also find secondary school Math easier than primary school as they are more straight forward. Don't know why those heuristics questions are so difficult in primary school.

240 is not such a bad score. Put it behind you and do better in secondary school.

      Cheers!
hey guys. any school can produce one or two top students. However, what I want to know more is the quality passes. For example, how many get A or A*, how many students score 250 and above.

Its already so hard to know the top score, it is unlikely for the school to breakdown the quality of passes.

Thats what I dont like about the whole hush hush thing. Lack of transparency.

Now that they cover up the top schools, they are also not giving a chance of the breakout schools that did well in a particular year, so going forward people will be stuck with the impression of good schools of the current era for a long long time.

Do you have children in P6? Didn't your school share breakdown of P6 stats with you?
By the way, I wonder why the parents of P6 students want to know about the stats since their children have already finished their exams and will be moving on to secondary school.
