Next year will be more vibrant, as folks from other secondary schools come join in as JC1.
actually this year already started with folks from other secondary schools joined in as JC1.

Can I check.. for secondary 1 - they will choose either HCL or CL?

It will not be like primary school where they need to take both HCL and CL right?

      Correct, take 1 only

Is it on voluntary basis if the child is eligible to take HCL? How would we decide and buy text books accordingly?

      [Hi xuan2nov3,

Thanks! yes, my child will be in YTPS next year. Your child is in P2 this year? Is P2 group according to ability or mixed? which P1/p2 class is better? :rahrah:[/quote]

      Hi ksunflower

My child is in p3. The whole class of p1 will be promoted to p2, only p3 will be regrouped based on results of p2, and there will be banded classes based on some 40:60 or last year's 50:50 ratio.

The uniform will change but I hv ot seen the design yet too, hopefully it's something more comfortable.

which p1 class is with the better teacherS?

for parents who are new to YTPS, you may check out the slides on parents briefing when the new school term start at the beginning of each year...
      http://www.yewteepri.moe.edu.sg/newsDetail.aspx?AutoPk=410&year=2011

As for which p1 class is with better teachers, it's really hard to say, as it changes every year. But based on my girl's experience, they tend to keep the same form teacher to progress together with the whole class from P1 to P2. If there is no change to the system, P1 is grouped based on mixed ability as there is no test beforehand to verify their ability. Hope this helps.

      HI,

Any parents who are with YTPS have any school bus operator to recommend? Thks!
Suppose you are one of the parents suceeding in securing a place in YTPS P1 next year? During the orientation day, normally in Nov, the school will provide the school bus operators information (think there are two or three), and you could even register instantly with the operators who will be in the school attending to any queries on the day.. 😄

      Oh she can access internet?

My maid of a year just requested to tap our house broadband to her internet mobile. She said she want to go into facebook. My kids had added her as friend in their facebook!!! 😐 I don't even know it. Still considering whether to let her tap or not.
no, she can't and she is not allowed to... but i am amazed at her IT knowledge.. is your maid Filipino?

They say cca is officially offered from P3 but if your child is interested in some cca from p1 , you can check with cca teacher. Now the school is offerring competitive cca, and free but they will train to participate in competitions. If you are looking for leisure purpose, the school also offers, but sometimes you have to pay and may have go to school on saturday. The catch here is that cca may help you with DSA application later.

Thanks mama_mia! Ya at every parent briefing, the school would never forget to inform us abt the DSA and try to encourage the children to take part in competitive cca.... so it's not really \"compulsory\" to start from p3? is there anyone not participating in cca at all?

      hello all

my gal is in P2 this year…

I think YTPS is pretty ok… My gal’s been adapting very well in the school since P1. The teachers are always very responsive, at least for the past 1.5 years, my gal’s teachers read their emails and responded pretty fast. One thing worth mentioning is they do hv programme in the middle of 3rd term to allow parents to attend the classes with pupils (but just merely sitting at the back of the class to observe) to allow us to see ourselves how the teachers handle the class and how the kids mingle with their friends…

Am wondering if CCA is compulsory? Is it from P3 onwards? since they are some P3 mummies here…
