      Zann:

How do you encourage/help your child sustain in third language rather than giving it up easily especially when school work, CCA and projects are under tight schedule?

Zann , I am in the same situation as you. My DS is juggling with homework , project work , revision , CCA and Japanese (every Tues) and only day he reach home at 0400 pm is Monday. And 0400 pm is the earliest he will ever reach home . He is not complaining much about school but it does make me heart pain to see him go through this at Sec 1. I am seriously thinking of dropping Jap and just after 2 mths ?? Any advice ??

Hi, I've been taking french for 1.3 years. French is not counted in my school (it's a choice). I've been coping quite well with school, even with school programmes on every single day of the week. If your son does his work with no procrastination, i can promise you that he will not sleep later than 11 every day.

      PSLE2010:
Big foot, You are right! I find the neighborhood teachers are very dedicated. My concerns are the peers' influence - they already started dating. They would go shopping, movie after school. Of course, I gal said 'thx! no thx!'. In return, they commented my gal's life is boring and pittiful. How would you feel if you were me?

This kind of thing is present in every school. I'm from hci and because of the future school programme my friends go on frequent lan gathering at mac.

Thank God his perverted ways are found out.

Actually, he's quite unlucky to get caught in the sense that there are many more out there like him They are educated and working professionals on the outside but wonky up there.

Recall Annabel Chong from Hwa Chong that did those 'acts' in the US. Also the ACSI principal.
Annabel Chong was raped first, before going into porn

      Thanks for informing...

Wow! your friend is really quick. I planned to take the list and go on 23rd and probably go back another day. No hurry. Not sure if they still use \"village by the sea\" next year?
Not all use village by the sea (strand 2), the strand 1 classes use animal farm.

as xxjustakidxx puts it, \"it depends\" on the following:

what do you mean by \"do very well for your PSLE\"?
\"very well\" meaning I am sure to get my first choice whichever that is? i.e. 265 & above. If so, then I would ask myself:

do I want to go to an IP school?
if so, then do I want to do the IB (ACSI) or the \"A\"?
what kind of a school culture would I want to be immersed in?
chinese (HCI, NYGH) or english (RI, RGS)

It won't be a simple \"YES\" or \"NO\" kind of answer!
Just saying, the chinese culture in HCI isn't really immense. I've been there for one year and none of us speak chinese to each other. We were told that for O level higher chinese RGS supposedly did better than HCI (???)

    • RE: Affiliated Schools

Hypothetically, there’s a child agg. of 270 from SJIJ. He wishes to go to an IP school, and hence, would not choose SJI as his first choice. However, another child with agg. of 240 is also from SJIJ. He wishes to enter SJI, but stands a low chance of entering SJI without the affiliation bonus, which is only available if he states SJI as 1st choice. Hence, it depends on the situation.

Your opinion is similar to mine.

That's why i always hve some uneasiness when parents whose kids hve PSLE T-score of btw 257-264 opting to travel an hrs plus to HCI/RI schools when there are v good value added schools within their vicinities.
Not to burst your bubble, HCI/RI/RGS/any of the top schools are not value added at all. Good students go in, good students go out.

But French is very hard to learn.

Coz it starts with \"Le...\" or \"La...\"
      Words are difficult to pronounce.
:? The best is not to choose French.
      *no offence*

Le and la actually means \"the\" in english. Le is for males, la is for females.

    • RE: PSLE 2010 Results Report Here

      octopusmum:
      HI all

After several posts in various threads, lots of stress and tears (literally), this is the final list for my son who scored 255 +2:

1st choice: RI (almost zero chance, but filling it in juz to try our luck) (259 COP)
      2nd choice: HCI (COP 257)
      3rd choice: NJC (COP 257)
      4th choice: RVHS (COP 251)
      5th choice: CHS (COP 248)
      6th choice: VS (COP 245)

just want to confirm that, if he can't get into any of the first three, he can at least get into RV or if RV is also out, he can still get CHS.

      thks v much.
      How about ACSI?
