Jennifer:
We attended last night Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in sch. Thought it was very well organised. I presume the older kids are all ex-PH pupils? So nice of them to come back to help out at the booths and organise fun games for everyone.

We were there too...but seems like everything needs money leh..$2 here, $3 there for the games...i believe we must hv paid at least $20-30 for ds and his cousin to play in some of the games.

OK for them to charge, but maybe make it a little cheaper...like $1?

Overall ds and his cousin enjoyed very much...just the :moneyflies: that this mummy feel the pain...somemore already paid for tickets....

I use those tingkat containers...much safer than those plastic wraps...if buying satay beehoon for eg, hubby will bring glass containers. Minimize plastic esp contact with hot boiling soup.

Same here, when i go buy brunch at hawker center, i usu bring tingkat along...but i try not to put the soup stuff cos tend to spill.
For porridge, i will sometimes bring those containers with warmer...so that when get home, porridge is still piping hot.

Aiyo..maths T called me today, said DS did not do his homework..quite a number of pages in the maths activity book...she told me that when she tried to go thru the subtraction (double digits) with him, he just went blank...so she asked me if i've been too busy at work lately..bcos she noted DS has deteriorated in his digilence in maths.... :faint:

Came home earlier today, made DS finish all the (overdue) maths pages...
asked him why he did not say there was homework , (usu on daily basis, we will usually ask him abt his homework and we did not hear abt this piece at all) he said that bcos it was too difficult (so difficult = no need to do?)... :slapshead:
and guess what...there was no TV for tonite and when i sat with him, he could do it...!!!!...so it is not he don't know, he just did not put his heart into it :frustrated:
Hv prepared 8 A4 pages of similar questions and going to make him do for the next 2 days....and monitored by Ah-ma...
I used to hear abt PH teachers calling parents when they see lag in students...finally i can understand what this means...maths T really sounded so urgent and serious......and made me so pai seh...BUT I like lah........good to hv proactive teachers πŸ˜‚
By the way..how do u guys prep your kids to \"confront\" difficult questions rather than avoid them? I see underlying issues in this case with DS.... :?:

I've a qn regarding this report. It recommends ds to read books ranging from 2.x to 3.x for optimal result. Now how would I know which books sit within this range? I don't recall seeing any booklist given to ds. Unless Mr. Bo-chap also used that to fold aeroplane as well.

Perhaps the 2.x / 3.x refers to the book levels?

Mark

I've never seen any reading list at all as well...all ds has is just a blank list for him to record down the books he reads.
Maybe Some other Hands-on Parents with P1, P2 Kids can Take up the Case ....
Honestly speaking...it's either we are blessed with very nice teachers or PH is just letting us enjoy our honeymoon period in P1 first...ds finds all his teachers \"nice\"...even though he says there's a maths teacher who's fierce...but when he spoke of her...there was no fear...so i guess the teacher is strict and reasonable...and as for his EL teacher..i found her a super nice lady as well....so hvn't encountered any \"tigresses\" as yet.

So I'm bracing myself for the \"upper primary\" pressure that's due to come our way :nailbite: ....but will take one step at a time la...
She is enjoying daily retail therapy at bookshop...so much so I've threatened to cut off pocket money if she continues. The day before, it was 2 magnetic balls ($1.50)...a whistle yesterday for $1. Angry Birds notepad and stickers earlier :slapshead:
Talk abt retail therapy...ds says the best place in sch is bookshop!!!
Same same...he's always buying useless stuff from bookshop which he keeps telling me it is CHEEAAPPP.... :slapshead:
I tried to cut his pocket money but then my father quietly gave him more :stupid: (so grandpa already kena warning from me as well)

you r right...other than the initial hiccup of not getting along with the girl sitting next to him in class, ds now loves PHPPS so much and enjoys every moment of it....and seeing him enjoy sch, i'm happy too....and the best part for me is P1 registration for mei mei will now be well taken care of when her (2006 kid) turn comes...in fact i hv 2 choices...PHPPS or CHIJ St Nicks (P2A)....but distance wise...PHPPS takes priority as we are staying within 1km fm PHPPS.
Last year was a very harrowing experience for myself...hubby took it easier bcos he was more bo chap...so seeing the ksp threads heating up again on P1 registration just bring back all my nitemares (am glad they are all behind now) :imcool: :dancig:

Again..just want to WISH all parents participating in ballotingat all phases best of L.U.C.K!!!!!!! :xedfingers:

XYZ1,
Was it the story that you had told me? Or something else? Bro Mark has such deep impression that he remembers till now. Can share? I dun want to read 1200+ pages.
Scary..yes it was same story that i pm u....Mark knows as i'm a good fren of his sista..so he knows exactly what we went thru last year...By the way i did not go for the P2C balloting..and was having a meeting when my husband called with the bad news...so my colleague literally saw my face turned blue, then white and followed by black for the rest of that fateful day last year.... :rotflmao:
