RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
[quote=\"The problem is the t-score of the child is not very good which already did not leave the parents with many choices to begin with, and after throwing in reasons like no girl school allowed / no co-Ed school allowed, it makes the decision even more difficult. So it is back to the discussion table again.[/quote]
This is exactly my situation now. My gal even dictates the school must have the cca she wants....so one more limitation.
Lucky for us is that there's a sch near to our house meets all her criteria and also acceptable to us parents, so we are putting it as first choice, she will hit the cop right at the margin, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we must get the first choice. :xedfingers:
On the cca part, we have told her that she cannot be fixated or obssessed with just one cca cos most ccas need to be interviewed and go thru selection so we are telling her to think abt the 2nd and 3rd option for cca as well. -

FantasyLandDreams:
My DD belongs to 2....we tried talking to her for 2 days but she's quite stubborn so we are choosing only the co-ed schools....cos we dun wan her to feel miserable in sec 1 and hence affecting her motivation.I’ve a question to seek help from the P6 parents here:
While brainstorming secondary school choices with my friends, I realised 2 scenarios.
1. Child from pure girl / boy school refuse to go to a co-ed Sec school
2. Child from co-Ed sap school refuse to go to a pure girl / boy Sec school
Anyone has succeeded in persuading the child to be more ‘open-minded’ and to keep their options open? May I know what reasons were used to convince the child, as my friends do not wish to force the choice on the child but yet feel a bit ‘wasted’ on their preferred choice. Thanks. -
RE: Secondary 2 Streaming
Hi parents, would like to ask a question for my sec 2 DS who’s facing streaming this year.
Is it true that pure history has super huge amount of memorising work?
What about pure lit?
DS has been strong in history amongst all his humanities subjects, but I think he’s hearing from his seniors and teachers that upper sec pure history requires huge effort on memorising. So he’s thinking of taking SS+elect hist and pure literature. We are unsure as he had never done well in eng lit in lower sec…just passing only, so we are trying to persuade him to rethink cos we think his weak eng lit foundation will make it tough for him to cope with pure lit.
At least history is a strong subject for him, so we think even though it requires a lot of memory effort, but given his interest in history, it should at least make it a lesser pain than taking pure lit.
Appreciate if some of the parents here with upper sec kids can give me some advice based on your hindsight.
Thanks! -
RE: Secondary 2 Streaming
deardear07:
Is it also true to assume that the better schools wills have to set more challenging tests/ exam questions than students from the neighbourhood school? like if a child gets A1 in a subject (neighbourhood school with express stream about 200), the standard could be only like estimated of a B? or C? in a good/ top school? just an example...
Not true, DS is in neighbourhood sch and I've met 2 different math tutors who commented that his sch maths paper is tougher than most schs and even tougher than some of the IP schs (for lower sec).....but I hv to admit that DS' sec sch has a reputation in that zone for being good in maths....so i guess depends on the niche of your child's sch. -

会不会利用跟Trump近距离接触时来个“同归于尽”。。。WW3 to start from Singapore?Same curiosity. Seems like a totally changed man. Or will he be changing into his old spots anytime soon?
Just my own imagination...think I should stop scaring myself....
